PASTORAL GROUP
Firstly a really big thank you to all the Bournemouth team, the warm welcome and the super lunch. Weather was kind and quite warm with it.
This my fourth pastoral group was full of some very promising youngsters in the puppy group that is. The adult group really did give me food for thought. A fantastic short list, but more to the point the also- rans, were outstanding as well. My short list was Belgian Shepherd, Rough Collie, Shetland Sheepdog, Welsh Corgi Cardigan. All of who gave the winning line up a very close call.
Group 1 Old English Sheepdog, “Reeves “SHAGGY BLUE BOB’S XERXES AT BRINKLEY (IMP) D. Not yet two years old, and yet head an outstanding line up. Loved his overall balance both in head and structure, such a masculine individual. Very easy on the lead showing a superb profile coupled with a well boned frame. Well coated for this time of year and very confident in presentation. Running true in all directions, especially his side gait which had the reach and drive we all search for in an exhibit.
Group 2 Briard “ Ruel & Keogh “ GILCORU IRROY D’BRIE “ TAF DOG
A black quality male and at four years of age a strapping exhibit. So masculine, and of excellent breed type. Handled to perfection both in presentation and on the move. Classic head, reach of neck couldn’t be any better, well defined high wither. Best of top lines firm and well muscled. Good tail carriage ticked all the usual box’s, hook and dew claws, smooth side gait and so sound coming and going.
Group 3 Collie Smooth Haywards “MULTI CH CLINGSTONE’S HOT SHOT AT FOXEARTH” (IMP) B Eight year old, looking more like a teenager and so well collected. So easy on the eye, rich tri with the softest of feminine expression. With this breed there’s nothing to hide, she has such an outstanding profile so typical of the breed. All angles were outstanding, top and underlines good. Came into her own on the move, good side gait, but really did excel coming and going. More to come I’m sure.
Group 4 Hungarian Puli dog.Kennett “CH TYNGELI ABRACADABRA (AI) D
A five year old black, fully corded and at the top of his game. So much to like about him, very typical of the breed, and so very relaxed in presentation. Under the coat such a well boned, muscular male in the prime of life, and another who was so well collected. Really good profile all of which was put to the test on the move. Couldn’t fault him in any area.
PASTORAL PUPPY GROUP.
P Group 1 Wiffen,Mackie,Lester “ DE BRUINE BUCK “ Belgian Shepherd dog(Groen) D. A stunning full coated young man of such quality I feel his future will be amazing to say the least. So good for type, profile, and presentation. Soft expression, and standing all square with the confidence you don’t often see in the breed these days. Excellent jacket, well boned, and a delight to go over. Ultra sound and handled with the care I expect from his handler. Delightful.
P Group 2 Turner “REMBRAND AFTER EIGHT DELITE “ Bearded Collie B. A slate grey of nearly a year old, eye catching in the extreme, in full coat and so calm in presentation. Liked her overall balance, and fore and aft angles which were used to best effect on the move. She really did move with the grace the breed is so well known for. Very sound and light on the lead.
P Group 3 Haywards “FOXEARTH FLETCH” D Collie Smooth. Almost his birthday, a merle of out standing quality, especially on the move which I could not denigh. Handled with ease and confidence. Not to heavy in bone, good feet, ears well placed, and very active. Super expression, he looked as if owns the world. Excellent top line, held as you would expect at all times. Will watch his progress which I feel will be rapid. Loved him.
P Group 4 Shahmatova “NASHDOM LA VIE EST BELLA” Border Collie B
Another with a birthday close at hand. Smart youngster, so confident and at ease in presentation. Good for type, loved her profile and sound construction. She really did use her well placed ears to best effect. Both top and underlines good. Kept her elbows well tucked in on the move which was so sound and collected. Slightly close away, but still sound. Very well handled, as she came close to loosing the plot at one time. Very well done.
PASTORAL SPEC BEGINNERS
1 Dennis “BAILEY OF SERENO SPIRIT” (IMP) White Swiss Shepherd. D.
8 years old who gave me quite a buzz, a strong well developed male of excellent type, best of heads coupled with a super profile. Top line specially good, level, firm, and finishing with a well rounded croup. All angles good, ok for bone, and so sound on the move, especially side gait. Well handled.
2 Poole “MELLOWDEE CORAL GLADIOLI” B . Old English Sheepdog.
Eight year old, very mature puppy. Excellent for type, confident, very firm top line for one so young. Good angles, both fore and aft. Ok for bone. Did very well on the move side gate in particular. Ok coming slightly close away. Promising youngster handled very well.
