Chihuahua Breed Notes 03/11/18
We’re well and truly on the Christmas countdown here. The dogs are all sorted with their pressies and Christmas activities. However, I haven’t written a single card or bought a single human present yet. Pretty much par for the course, I’d say!
Last weekend was the Longcoat Chihuahua Club Christmas Open Show. We arrived to the strains of well-known Christmas tunes, and I couldn’t resist a little sing along as we set up for the day. The committee were very festive in their Christmas jumpers, along with some of the exhibitors. Mairi Austin outdid herself on the club stand with lots of very reasonably priced items for sale.
Nicolas Alarion was judging, all the way from France. BD was Lynn Hargreaves’ Winchi Noah Anou from the Open Dog class and RBD Michelle Emmerson’s X-Ismirelles Boy Dogomania (Imp Pol) from the Junior Dog class. BPD was Carol Conquest’s Chihohit Favourite Apollon At Storyland (misspelt in the catalogue) and RBPD Leah Todd-McCoid’s Tinasjoy Norris McDogface Of Rubyanlo, both from the Puppy Dog Class. BVD was Lynn’s Ch Tampico Delicious Knight At Leyju.
BB was Leah Todd-McCoid’s Tinasjoy Georgia With Rubyanlo from the Open Bitch class, RBB and BVB Sharon Hughes’ Trefnanney Prudence from the Veteran class, BPB Leah’s Tinasjoy Tilly McTrotface of Rubyanlo and RBPB Lee Humphreys’ Amarantos Nicole.
BIS was Winchi Noah, RBIS X-Ismirelles Boy Dogomania, BPIS Chihohit Favourite, RBPIS Norris, BVIS Prudence and RBVIS Mairi Austin’s Ch Mairichis Blossom JW.
Well done to all the principal winners, and those who were placed in their classes!
The only open show news I have this week is from Amanda Green at Toydog Society of South Wales where Ellochi Chasing Stars was 1st in Open and Cwtchi Pride Ellochi went BOB.
I have been reading some excellent tips on the various facebook groups on ways we protect our homes and possessions from the joys of our little Mexicans. Leah Evans has been putting a waterproof mattress protector sheet over her rugs (the ones that gather round the edges). I have been using washable incontinence pads for a while now instead of puppy pads. Stops the dreaded shredders and saves a fortune in buying pads. They are also useful for lining whelping boxes, can be machine washed at high temperatures and tumble dried. If any of you have any useful tips please do let me know – you are all a bunch of very creative people.
I know there’s a fair few open shows next weekend so please do send me your results. In the meantime, I’m getting ready for LKA in a couple of weeks with my new Christmas jumper on order. Have a great week!
