Chihuahua Breed Notes 05/0718
Well, it’s been another hot week in Chihuahua Town! This week I ordered some new cool pads for my lot – thank heavens for Amazon Prime! It was Windsor last weekend; such a shame that the committee had to put calls out for distressed dogs left in cars (not Chihuahua people I will add!). I know some with large breeds have vans set up with air conditioning running to keeps the dogs comfortable, but it beggars belief that there are still some people who leave dogs in cars in this heat! Windsor is always a show I would love to go to as it’s very close to where my sister lives, but as it’s always on a week day, I can’t. I really do wish some of these shows would consider the exhibitor a little more thoroughly.
At Winsdor, Longs were judged by Grace Godwin. DCC was Graham Foote’s Ballybroke Tare-away, RDCC Shelda Hornby’s Ch Bramerita Mr Holmes, BCC and BOB Steve Rooney’s Donami Limelight, RBCC Rosie Clarke’s Oxsirius Neon Tiger, BP Sharon Baker’s Efterpi J’Adore Dior My Love and BV Geoffrey Curr’s Natimuk Astrid.
Smooths were judged by Jane Paradise, although there were no tickets. BD was Ms Wells’ Pepeetolynn Obsidian At Dollybeau JW, RBD Beverley Sutton’s Ch Mr Incredible De L’isle Au Vert Coteau Nikitos, BB and BOB Wendy Ansell’s Myojo Toy Story JW, RBB Jurate Suprinaityte’s Borjomi Beauty, BP Beverley Sutton’s Now Or Never De L’isle Au Vert Coteau Nikitos TAF, BV the same owner’s Ch Lozek Rhapsody In Blue Nikitos JW, BSpBeg Mrs Lane’s Denique Serenity, which also went G4 in the Special Beginner Group.
In Ireland, Francine Kelly’s Yorone Press Call For Frapachi gained his final Green Star and has now been made up to Irish Champion. I haven’t seen any open show results online or on Facebook this week, if I’ve missed them, please send them to me and I’ll put them in next week’s notes.
I have a lovely photo for this week – Steve Rooney with William in the group at Crufts last year. It’s a photo I saw on Steve’s facebook page at the time and always thought it was just heart-warming; for me it just captures the gentleness and love between dog and owner. Huge thanks to Steve for sending it to me as it’s a photo I’ve always loved. Don’t forget to send me your photo of your proudest Chihuahua moment for inclusion in the breed notes. I love an opportunity to celebrate our super breed!
My dad was rather affronted last week as both by sister and mum have had a mention in the breed notes and he hasn’t. So here you go dad. By the way, if you ever see him at a dog show with me, he only comes for the food. West Country Chihuahua Open Show in July is his favourite as he particularly likes the food at that one. Give him a bacon sandwich and he’s happy.
Other than that, I don’t have any other news for this week; it’s been a pretty quiet week, but don’t forget to send me your news – anything Chihuahua related is welcome, not just the show wins. East of England is this weekend so good luck and safe journeys to all travelling there.
