As I write this, the National Dog Show is taking place. Results to follow later.
Unfortunately, I have some rather sad news this week. I was aware via social media of two Chihuahuas stolen from a car in a supermarket car park in Hinckley, Leicestershire, on 13 March 2019. A nationwide campaign has since been taking place to try and locate these two little ladies, Dinky and Doris, with one of them suffering from medical conditions that requires medication. Last weekend, I was tagged in to a post of a Chihuahua dumped at Banbury and District Open Show, tied to a car in the car park. Unfortunately, following on from a microchip and vet check, this is not one of the stolen Chihuahuas. However, this poor little mite is now receiving veterinary treatment for mammary tumours, pressures sores and injuries that look to have been inflicted by another dog. She is in quite a state. How very sad that someone could allow such a thing to happen to such an innocent little thing. She is now in the care of an exhibitor of another breed, well versed in rescue, and is receiving the veterinary care she needs. I hope she can be found a lovely home.
Unfortunately, that means that Dinky and Doris are still not traced. This week, the owners of the dogs has appeared on local radio and TV, both to appeal for the return of these dogs, but also to raise awareness of dog theft. It appears that in the Midlands area, Chihuahuas are the third most popular dog to be stolen. I have included a picture of the poster of Dinky and Doris for you all to keep your eyes peeled. Sadly, to date, although there have been a number of leads, the owners are still none the wiser as to the possible whereabouts of the dogs. Hopefully, as we all travel the country in pursuit of our hobby, you can all keep an eye out for these little ones. A sad day for our beautiful breed.
