Chihuahua Breed Notes 17/01/19
Well, it’s been a bit quiet in Chihuahua Town of late, with little in the way of champ shows until later this week. Then we pick up pace in the run up to Crufts. I’m on quite a few Chihuahua groups on Facebook and have been dismayed to see the amount of pet dogs in our lovely breed that are being sold or rehomed now that we are in January. The usual excuses – new job/moving to a house that doesn’t allow pets/new child/training issues/not getting on with my other dog. In reality we all know the real reasons. I have noticed a significant increase in these posts in the last week. Very sad.
News from the open shows:
At North & South Shields in Longs Michelle Emmerson’s X-Ismirelle’s Boy Dogomania went BOB and was listed in the toy group. At Worcester & Malvern, Amanda Green’s Ellochi Chasing Stars went Best AVNSC (no chi classes) and then group 3. Also at W & M Mairi Austin’s Ch Mairichis Blossom JW won AV Toy Veteran. At Welsh Kennel Club Christine Edwards’ Copymear Kharlid went BOB and G2 and Amanda and John Green’s Donami Rhinestone Cowboy went BPIB (smooths); Amanda Green’s Chasing Stars went BOB in the longs. At Stockport Steve Rooney’s Borjomi Beyonce at Yorone went BPIB and then BPIS!
Midland Chihuahua Club open show entries are: longs 101 dogs making 101 entries, smooths 67 dogs making 74 entries and baby walk 10. A fantastic entry!
The Kennel Club have announced that Smooths have moved from Band C to Band D, meaning that dogs placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in Open, or 1st in Limit will qualify for entry in to the Stud Book. Longs remain unchanged.
I discovered a few weeks ago a fabulous little product for those little accidents on your carpets. Dr Beckmann Carpet Stain Remover has a Which recommendation and I’ve found it to be the most effective product I’ve used (and I’ve tried them all, from shop bought, to homemade). Not the cheapest I grant you, at £5-6 a bottle, but I don’t mind paying it if it works (which it does!). Now here’s a little tip you’re going to like if you want to try it – Aldi have them on offer at £2.99.
Safe travels and good luck to you all at Manchester. I have to work, but I’ll be watching the results come in online. Don’t forget to let me have your open show wins and any tips/news etc for next week’s notes.
