Well, it’s been another windy old week in Chihuahua Town, and Storm Dennis kept many of us at home last weekend. I had a busy weekend with two shows, both of them less than an hour from home which meant I was able to brave the weather and attend both, but I certainly don’t blame anyone who stayed at home to avoid the dreadful driving and road conditions.
Last weekend was the Longcoat Chihuahua Club open show, judged by Shirley Alfred. Sue Lee’s knitted toys went down a storm (no pun intended!); I stocked up on 5 of them that were well received by my crew when I got home. BD and BIS was my own Ellochi Crazy Nights for Pappersley JW, RBD and RBIS was Lynn Hargreaves’ Winchi’s Arnold Noah, BPD and RBPIS was also Lynn’s Tampico All You Need Is Love, BB Loretta Morley’s Loroso Sasha Simone, RBB Lee Humphreys’ Sleepyhollow Sonia Amarantos, BPB and BPIS Lesley and Roy Barber’s Ramrowan Love in a Mist, BVIS in show Mairi Austin’s Ch Mairichi’s Blossom JW VW and RBVIS Lynn’s Tampico Pandora’s Box.
Beverley Sutton and Sue Lee made the long journey over to France to attend the Exposition Nationale D’elevage Club du Chihuahua, du Coton Tulear, et des Exotiques Championship show. There were 136 smooths and 132 longs entered. Alongside Chihuahuas, there were also various breeds including Chinese Cresteds, Coton De Tulears, Min Pins, Mexican Hairless and Peruvian Hairless. Many thanks to Beverley for kindly sending me their results, with Beverley’s Ch Now or Never De L’isle Au Vert Coteau Nikitos JW winning his class of 23 exhibits, graded excellent, then Best Dog. He was then later awarded BOB (CAC) and finally Best in Show (CCCE) under judge Jean-Jacques Dupas. In the longs, under judge Mr Condi, Sue’s Int Ch Legend Harry De L’isle Au Vert Coteau made the final 8 in the Champion dog class.
News from the general open shows:
At Gloucester both coats were judged by Karen Coombs. Longs – BOB was my own Ellochi Crazy Night’s for Pappersley JW and BP was Kacey-Leigh Green’s Parisland Its All About Me Ellochi, who also went PG4. Smooths – BOB and BP was Julia and David Milton’s The Golden Boy De Casa Del Hermitano Gestavo (Imp Esp) who also went G4 and PG2. The group judge was Amber Henshaw. There were a number of complaints from toy exhibitors as all the toy judging took place in a small fitness room, away from the main rings, and this only allowed for a small ring with not really enough room for all the exhibitors to squeeze in. I know a number of people put in complaints to the secretary so hopefully they will take this in to account next year. Having previously been secretary of an all breed open show that uses this venue, I know it is possible to put all of the rings in to the main hall.
At Cleveland Breeze Newberry’s Mellisa Dogomania at Hermosoangel went BOB and Michelle Emmerson’s Ismirelle’s Love Bug went BPIB. At Matlock in the smooths Wendy Smith’s Moltobello Pride and Joy of Hulawawas was BOB and RBOB and BP was Peake’s Tacacho Dark Ember. In the longs BOB was Barbara Swales’ Sleepyhollow Richard at Selaws and RBOB the same owner’s Zoyas Kingdom Oh My God Sleepyhollow. At Barrow Serena Hunt’s Diamonchi Button Moon for Moltobello went BOB and G3 under breed judge Julia Ashton and group judge John Purnell. Diane Fothergill’s Diamonchi Last One Standing went BPIB and PG3. At Llynfi Valley Kacey-Leigh Green’s Parisland Its All About Me Ellochi went BPIB and PG2.
This weekend is the Chihuahua Club of South Wales champ show. Entries are longs 134/143 and smooths 91/93, with 7 in the baby walk. At the moment, there is no known flooding in the area. Don’t forget that it’s the new venue that you need to go to!
Some agility news for you – Jessica Murray’s Jamberchi Whoopsie Daisy has achieved her Bronze Agility Warrant. Huge well done!
Less than two weeks to go until Crufts; hopefully you have your outfits sorted. My sister has arranged her annual trip home from Norwich (Crufts is the only dog show she comes to – I think purely because she likes the handbag stand!). If you see her looking bored, point her in the direction of handbags and jewellery, send her off and she’ll be fine!
Good luck and safe travels this weekend end!
