Well, it’s T minus 15 days to Crufts here in Chihuahua Town and preparations are well under way. The passes have arrived (well, apart from my car park pass which hasn’t, so a quick email to Fosse Data and I’m waiting for it!). it’s a show that’s never been a lucky one for me, so I just go with the intention of simply enjoying it. I know some of you dislike it, but as I said in my notes last year, for me, I love the atmosphere.
Last Sunday was the Longcoat Chihuahua Club’s open show, judged by Wendy Ansell. This is a show I’ve always liked as it’s always friendly and relaxed. There were 80 dogs entered and lots of puppies to cuddle. Results for the dogs are as follows: BD was Carol Conquest’s Chihohit Favourite Apollon at Storyland, RBD Lynn Hill’s Lynpix The Mexican with Becanna, BPD Steve Rooney’s Yorone Going For Gold, RBPD Lee Humphrey’s Amarantos Anton and BVD Amy Baranzeck’s Happyhouse Solo at Capevidle. Results for the bitches: BB was Sharon Birch’s Doobyave Careless Whispers at Serpentis, RBB and BPB Lee Humphrey’s Sleepyhollow Sonia Amarantos, RBPB the same owner’s Amarantos Nicole and BVB Colin Craggs’ Ch Reyoldco Ophelia JW. BIS was Apollon, RBIS Careless Whispers, BPIS Going for Gols, RBPIS Sonia, BVIS Ophelia and RBVIS Mairi Austin’s Ch Mairichis Blossom JW.
Jim Culverhouse’s Lykath’s Peep Bo won her last Junior Warrant point (subject to KC confirmation) at this show. Well done to all.
News from the open shows:
At Gloucester, both coats were judged by Sheena Turnock. Longs – BOB was Tony Allcock’s Garnox Shortbread Kiss for Sleepyhollow and BP was Steve Rooney’s Yorone Going For Gold. Smooths – BOB and BP was Steve’s Borjomi Beyonce, who then went to take G4 and PG2. At St Helen’s Colin Harley and Clark Fahey’s Zoomeera Hot Cargo went BOB and the same owner’s Boetandales Little River Through Zoomeera went RBOB under Brian Lees. At Maidenhead in the longs Jim Culverhouse’s Lykath’s Flash Gordon went BPIB and PG4 and the same owner’s Lykath’s Tiffin went BOB, judged by Jan Fiers. In the smooths Susan Slavinec’s Copymear Chance took BOB. At Ashton-Under-Lyme, Lesley Taylor’s Arkoschi Miss Prim N Proper went BOB under Meriel Taylor. At Barrow Danielle Gilling’s Chantico’s Mercedes of Talocan went BPIB, RBOB and PG1. The same owner’s Vikkilous Fabulous Flavia of Talocan went BOB. At Cleveland Wendy Turnbull’s Tidos Bond Girl at Hurascalexi went BOB under Tom Isherwood.
New from the Irish shows:
At Queen’s Island Canine Club, Wilma and Patsy McDevitt’s Leri’s Gang Cocoon at Keenaughts went BOB and the same owner’s Keenaughts Once a Blue Moon also BOB. I’m not sure which dog was the long and which one the smooth – I’m sure Wilma will put me straight!
Tony Allcock advertised on his facebook page an opportunity for Chihuahua exhibitors to attend a themed lunch at the Kennel Club in London. The date is Wednesday 24 July 2019 at Clarges Street and involves a tour of the Kennel Club building, a visit to the Kennel Club art gallery, a breed specific talk in the library, an opportunity the view Chihuahua archives and literature, a glass of bubbly and a 3 course themed lunch in the dining room. Price is £39.50 and is first come, first served, so if you’re interested in attending contact Tony ASAP. Mum and I have booked our places!
I know there’s quite a few shows going on this weekend; I’ll see those of you going to the Chihuahua Club of South Wales there. The committee go above and beyond, putting on a buffet for all, and I understand there will be a few trade stands there, including the chap Amanda Green and I buy all our bedding from. If you haven’t bought anything from him, his beds are brilliant – you can chuck them in the washing machine then through the tumble dryer and very reasonably priced. He will also have large bottles of kennel disinfectant with him, which I think are a bargain at £5.
Safe travels to you all this weekend, wherever you’re off to with your little ones, and don’t forget to drop me a line with your show results!
