The highlight of my judging career thank you to the exhibitors, my amazing stewards Mr D Foulds and Mr S Myring and the supportive ringside who made the day memorable. I enjoyed judging every one of the greyhounds, all were well presented and in excellent condition, I am in no doubt that I had my hands on some future stars and I am looking forward to following their careers. I thought my winners were outstanding representatives of the breed and was so pleased that my BOB was Group 4 it is a long time since a greyhound was placed in the group.
Veteran Dog (1)
1st Pinder’s Savanna Barry
Typical white and blue racing boy of lovely type, looking super in his 10th year with a lovely temperament. Very well muscled and in good condition, I liked his head, excellent ears and good eyes, good forehand construction but lacks infill of forechest, makes a good shape standing and he is balanced and sound on the move.
Junior Dog (1)
1st Howlett, Boggia and Koulermou’s Ina’s Fashion Dedicated To Boughton (imp Deu)
Very impressive boy of 18 months, masculine head with strong neck that flows into an excellent topline, shoulders are well laid, chest is deep with good spring of rib. His hindquarters are well developed and he uses his short hocks to display an excellent driving action in profile. One to watch.
Post Grad Dog (6)
1st Howlett M, Howlett R and Howden E Skyswift New Moon
A class of very different types and some were hard to assess because they were not co-operating, at this level they had to pay the price.
I chose this nearly 3 year old as my winner for his type, shape, movement and balance, I particularly liked his head and kind expression with good eye colour and well set ears, he is well boned with good feet, presented in hard condition, strong neck, deep chest and good underline. I would prefer a better topline and he slopes away too much over the croup, he moved out well on a long stride.
2nd Spacey’s Inchydoney Memories North Star At Hallimans
Brindle and White boy of 22 months, well muscled and another in good hard condition, dark eye and small rose shaped ears, I would like a longer muzzle, his neck is strong and topline is good, he has enough forechest, and is well boned and balanced with strong hindquarters. A strong boy who needs time to settle on the move.
3rd Blockley Spurr’s Grandcru Pierro For Suttonelms (imp USA)
Tall dark brindle boy also 22 months another in good hard condition and presented very well. I liked his head shape, dark eye and good ears, strong underjaw, he has excellent feet and makes a good shape standing. I would prefer more layback of shoulder, he needs time to grow into his large frame and although sound needs to settle on the move.
Limit Dog (2)
1st Skinner’s Skyswift Moonlite Tango
2 1/2 year old red brindle brother to previous class winner, I liked this boy for type, he is well presented in excellent condition, super head, his neck is strong and flows into good forequarters with good infil. He has good bone, correct slope to pasterns and excellent feet, strong rear quarters and he moved out with reach and drive. I’m sure with more performances like this he could go on to better things.
2nd West’s Windspiel Northern Stroler To Gemsbok
Upstanding and with a lot of scope, this nearly 4 year old white boy is developing slowly, different type to winner and not as positive on the move. He is an attractive boy standing with good head, dark eye, lovely rose ears, strong neck, shoulder could be better laid and he needs more infil of forechest. Very good bone and feet and well angulated and muscled hindquarters. Well presented.
Open Dog (12)(2)
1st Fitzgerald J and L Ch Boughton Bold And Brave of Dawnchase ShCM
This was a very strong class of quality greyhounds, I was sorry that many beautiful hounds went out without a card the standard was so high. The first three were outstanding although of very different types. Fully mature red brindle boy of rising 5 years, I loved this boy for type he is totally unexaggerated anywhere, a very honest and good greyhound. Super head and expression, good layback of shoulder, well ribbed back with deep chest and good spring of rib. Very shapely outline overall with strong well angulated hindquarters, he moves well on a long stride keeping his outline. Well deserved CC.
2nd Millward C, L and M and Race L Ch Int Ch Nl Ch Windspiel Northern Scribe For Alouann WW 18
I have always admired this upstanding white and red boy who was well presented in fine muscular condition, I wasn’t disappointed and at rising 4 years old I think the best is yet to come. A very masculine head sits on a strong neck that flows into his topline, his shoulder is well laid, chest is deep and ribs well sprung, hindquarters are well developed and he has outstanding profile movement. Reserve CC
3rd Mr P Salmistraro Ch Sobers Cassius
2 ½ year old red boy of super quality with good bone and substance and excellent angulation front and rear, good feet. Masculine head, slightly lighter eye than I like but good expression, curvy outline with each part flowing into the next. Slightly apprehensive today, and a type I really like on another day my decision could have been different.
Special Racing and Lure Coursing Dog (5)
1st Mr D Barber Barley Phoenix
This was a lovely class of racing dogs and I really enjoyed judging them, the winner a white and black particolour is still very young at 2 years old, he is of excellent type with super bone, strong legs and good feet and a good shape, excellent head with good topline and underline. Moved well on a long free stride.
2nd Mrs A Thompson’s Puppy Eyes At Muicks
White and red brindle particolour of nearly 4 years, this boy was more moderately angulated and finer boned than the winner and lacked infil of forechest, his head is lovely with dark eye and well folded ears, he has a good topline and underline and is a sound mover with good drive from the rear
3rd Miss Clarke’s Wachovia Benjy (NAF)
More elegant red boy of good type, 3 years old, great muscular condition, excels in head and makes a lovely shape standing, moderately angulated fore and aft he looks super on the move, I would just like him standing straighter in front
Veteran bitch (3)(1)
1st Ahrens and Primavera B and P CIB/IT/ROM/SE Ch Sobers Orianne
Outstanding quality red looking fantastic for her 9 + years, the best of heads, long neck into excellent forehand, she still holds her topline so well and has a good underline, just slightly over angulated in rear she moves very well and is in excellent muscular condition
2nd Miss J Glasper’s Breakaday Forbidden Love
Rising 9 year old blue and white racer, good head and eye, well muscled, moderately angulated with fair topline and underline. She has enough depth and good bone and she moved out well in all directions
Puppy Bitch (1)
1st Mrs D and Miss S Garrett and Oakey Inchydoney Memories Oh My God With Caryna
White and red with very nice head, dark eye and rose shaped ears, I would like a better laid shoulder, her topline is good, at 9 months she has a lot of time to fill out and get control of her tail. She moved well for her age. Best Puppy
Junior Bitch (2)
1st Miss I Koulermou Ina’s Fashion Deluxe JW DK W/18 JCH
Two very nice juniors who are sisters, the winner a lovely red was more upstanding, excels in head shape with good eye and ears, strong underjaw and excellent forehand construction, her topline is correct and she has well angulated hindquarters and she is balanced with good bone. Excellent movement with good reach and drive I liked her a lot
2nd Miss C Boggia and Miss I Koulermou Ina’s Fashion Design By Boughton
This very nice brindle shares many of the attributes of her sister, she has a super outline and a classic head shape, her neck flows into a good topline, with a better rise over the loin than her sister, she makes a balanced outline standing and has good angulation front and rear. She moved out well but lacked the presence of her more forward sister, one for the future
Post Grad Bitch (3)
1st Mrs M and Miss R Howlett’s Skyswift Moonlight Serenade
3 different types the winner for me had the better outline and I preferred her type. Rising 3 years old she is tall, I would like more angulation to her forehand to match her shapely hindquarters. I liked her head, dark eye and long muzzle, she has a good topline and underline and has good bone and feet. Movement was sound but a little close in rear
2nd Mr F and Mrs C Ortmann and Strauer Royal Bunnycatcher’s Aphrodite
Pretty blue rising 2 years so giving away a lot in age, with a beautiful head, finer than the winner and she falls away a bit to much over the croup and was a bit too narrow all through for me. However I liked her type and her outline and she has excellent feet.
3rd Mrs A Thompson’s Ooaar Nicolar At Muicks
Beautiful racing bitch of high quality who held her own in this class, black with the most beautiful head, dark eyes and rose shaped ears. She is a lovely shape with good topline and underline and is in super hard condition. Good movement in profile but very close behind
Limit Bitch (6)(1)
1st Miss I Koulermou Ina’s Fashion Desirable JW JWW
Excellent class won by a really classy and quality young bitch who has the most spectacular outline and correct movement. She has an enormous amount of scope, she catches the eye with her dark brindle coat, exquisite head, long neck that just flows over her well placed shoulders, a near perfect topline with arched loin and sweeping hindquarters. She won the reserve CC easily it’s hard to believe she is only 18 months the breeder must be very proud of this lovely litter.
2nd E McKnight, L McLaughlan and B Armstrong Boughton Bizzarrini At Azrams
Rich blue brindle of excellent type who at rising 2 doesn’t have as much scope as the winner but is nevertheless a top quality exhibit. She has a classic head, correctly folded ears, her neck flows into a well angulated forehand, she is well ribbed back with strong loin and her hindquarters are balanced with her forequarters. No exaggeration with this bitch she moves very well displaying good reach and drive
3rd Miss J Cutter and Mr H Lubin Zoraden My Girl At Chosovi
Rising 3 year old with gleaming coat and another of top quality, very unlucky to meet the 1st and 2nd although she certainly can hold her own in this company, she has a lovely flowing outline with good angulation and is presented in excellent condition. Although very sound she just didn’t have the movement of the winners
Open Bitch (9)(2)
1st P Primavera and B Ahrens Primavera IT/SWE/NL CH Sobers Xtravaganza WW 17 18
Another excellent class of quality bitches the winner at 4 ½ years old gave a faultless performance to take the breed with a bit to spare, I had no hesitation in sending her through to the group where she represented the breed in spectacular fashion to take Group 4. She is so well made, a series of flowing curves and is totally balanced, her head is long with a powerful jaw, her neck is long with an elegant arch, she has good bone and has good angulation front and rear. On the move there is no doubt about her ability to cover the ground at great speed with great propulsion
2nd Ms S Heath’s Ch Boughton Back To Blighty ShCM
Maybe not quite the generous proportions of the winner, nevertheless this nearly 5 year old white and black particolour is a lovely quality representative of the breed. Today I thought she gave an excellent performance on the move, with a free and easy stride displaying reach at the front and drive from the rear. Her head is long and lean and she has a good reach of neck into a well laid shoulder, her topline is good and her hindquarters strong and muscular. She has good bone and feet and is well balanced
3rd Miss R Howlett Ch Boughton Balanchine
Hard to believe this beautiful dark brindle is nearly a Veteran, well deserving of her place in this class she is presented in beautiful condition with a shiny coat, her head is classic and she has good balance and a lovely outline. She just wasn’t as positive on the move as 2nd
Special Racing and Lure Coursing Bitch (10)(1)
1st P and R Bartlett’s Bubbly Diva
A really good class that I really enjoyed judging the winner a 5 year old black with white trim is of a lovely type excelling in head with small rose shaped ears, dark eye and long muzzle, long neck, topline a little straight, good underline, very balanced , good bone and in hard muscular condition. Moves out well on a long stride.
2nd P and J Browne’s Slippery Louise of Adachi
Rising five year old another attractive black with white trim, finer than the winner, very shapely with strong loin, she looks like she could do her job, super head, dark eye, balanced angulation, very good feet. No exaggeration she moved out very well.
3rd G, O and B Noble’s Special Release
Rising 8 year old blue with good bone and substance, another one that looks like she could do her job, strong neck into a well laid shoulder, excellent topline, well ribbed back, very strong hindquarters, moved well. Her sister was VHC another lovely bitch who was really enjoying her time in the ring.
