Merseyside Gundog Open Show – 11th November 2018
Well another Open show and its another BIS for the Breed. Once again, Rügen, Kimmax Knock Yourself Out, owned by Dave and Kim Donnelly, won Best of Breed under judge Elenor Brown and then went on to take Best In Show under BIS judge, Penny Gowland.
Not to be outdone, in only her 2nd show as a puppy, Kim and Dave’s puppy, Ava, Kimmax Who Cares Wins, not only won Best Puppy in the breed but went on to take Reserve Best Puppy in Show. Quite a day out.

Hunde & Pferde Show, Dortmund, Germany – Friday 16th November 2018 to Sunday 18th November 2018
This is Germany’s largest dog show, with over 8,000 dogs entered, combining the much prized Bundesseiger Show with the Internationale Show. The Bundessiger is a ‘double points’ show for the German Show Titles and both shows offer CACIB’s (the international CC).
Hunde & Pferde Internationale
Deutsch Drahthaar classes (7 dogs entered) were judged by the respected German judge, Herr Horst Klieberstein.
Best of Breed, Herbstseiger, CACIB and CAC Dog went to Sh Ch Kimmax Kurious George.
Herbstseiger, CACIB and CAC Bitch went to his litter sister, Sh Ch Kimmax Miss Kongeniality – both owned by Mr P F and Mrs M McCullough.
Kimmax Kurious George went on to take the third place spot in Group 7, under German Judge Herr Josef Pöhling, with the top winning GSP, Pitwit Action Man taking the top spot in the Group (his 4th Group win).
Hunde & Pferde Bundesseiger
Deutsch Drahthaar classes (5 dogs entered) were judged by the highly experienced German judge, Herr Josef Pöhling. The results proved to be the same as the previous show.
Best of Breed, Bundesseiger, CACIB and CAC Dog went to Sh Ch Kimmax Kurious George.
Bundesseiger, CACIB and CAC Bitch went to Sh Ch Kimmax Miss Kongeniality.
Kimmax Kurious George was shortlisted in Group 7, but no place under Hungarian Judge Andras Korozs.
This show also gained both Sh Ch Kimmax Kurious George and Sh Ch Kimmax Miss Kongeniality their final wins required for their German show titles – so worth the 1,200 mile round trip.
GWPC Field Trial – Novice Stake – 10th November 2018
This Novice stake was held at the always popular Myerscough Agricultural College, near Preston – by kind permission of Mr Andrew Parkinson. The judges for the day were Mr Lee Loveridge and Mr P F McCullough.
We had a full card for the day, good weather, plentiful birds and the guns were shooting well. By the end of the day, we were pleased to be able to award the following prizes;
- 2ND – Jason Hudson – Floh V D Wielerveiden at Fechllindream (Korthals Griffon Bitch)
- 4TH – Geoff Saint – Zoldmali Tarlo (Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla Dog)
- COM – Louise Holmes – Moorrunner Isla at Gilleyfield (German Wirehaired Pointer Bitch).
The next GWPC Field Trial is an All Aged Trial on 6th December at the Radbourne Shoot in Derbyshire. Judges are Larry Wilks and Jason Hudson. The Club’s final Field Trial is a Novice at Somerford Hall, Staffordshire on 15th January 2019.
You would not believe the time it takes to keep on top of the breed stats, so please do let me know if you think if I have misquoted your dog’s stats, misspelled or omitted anything.
