This weekend saw Manchester show take place with a return of CCs for our breed as one of the all CC shows. I cannot remember the last time we had CCs there, but to the best of my knowledge in the 1990s. I recall winning my very first CC there! Back to 2019, our breed was judged for the first time at CC level by Mrs Fran Mitchell, famed for her well known Bronia dachshunds. Mrs Mitchell awards CCs in eleven hound breeds.
Being awarded his first CC and BOB was Kathy Spaceys’ Inchydoney Memories North Star at Halliman’s, bred in France by Tally Cloux. RCC in males was Alayna Allens’ Zoraden Love Man JW making a return, having had a break from the show ring. BCC was my and Ina Koulermous’ Inas’ Fashion Design by Boughton, winning her second CC, and RBBC was Ch Boughton Balenciaga. Best Puppy was Miss S Oakley and Mrs D Garratts’ Inchydoney Memories Oh My God with Caryna, although the only puppy present, it was super to see newcomers to our breed win the Hound Puppy Group under Liz Stannard. Good luck for your return on the final day. What a successful day for breeder Tally Cloux!
Away from the greyhounds it was good to see Claire Millward in the hound group keeping Kathy company with her afghan Benson – well done!
If you do not have your schedule for the Greyhound Club Open show on 16th March do contact Julie Mackenzie. This is also online with Higham press and entries close 9th February (paper). The judge is from Canada, Mr Christopher Shields, so good to have fresh eyes judge our breed – lets make this a bumper entry for him!
The Hound Association schedule for their Open show on 31st March is out as well and there are breed classes with a racing/coursing class as well and these are being judged by Lorraine Fitzgerald. Closing date for this is 25th February (postal).
You should have all had your updated AGM papers, please let Julie know if you have not received yours. Lastly the absolute deadline for subscriptions is 31st January.
