All but the end of the month, and what a lovely weather our hounds are enjoying – complete contrast to the beast from the east this time last year!
I hope everyone has seen the launch of the Greyhound Congress, to be held in the UK in 2021. The facebook page is ‘Greyhound World Congress UK 2021’ and there is also a web site with lots of information. This will be in July 2021 and Liz Millward, Andrea Spurr and I will be on hand at Crufts to answer any queries or take bookings. We have been amazed by the interest with so many bookings already taken. The deposit is £100 per person, which will secure your place on the three night package.
Gentle reminder that entries are closing for the Hound Association (Sunday 31st March) where Lorraine Fitzgerald is the judge. There is a class for racing coursing greyhounds as well. Paper entries have shut, but on line entries shut MIDDAY 4th March. This is on higham press website.
Some greyhound enthusiasts were out and about at the weekend, having fun at the open shows. Firstly Kathy Skinner and ‘Nigel’ attended Sutton Coldfield Open Show, and won Best AVNSC and then Hound Group One – the judge was Caroline Scott (Wolferlow). Then on the Sunday, Andrea Spurr attended Cheltenham and District Canine Society with ‘Perri’ and they won best AVNSC hound and then the Hound Group under Ken Andrews. Please let me know of any wins you have with your hounds.
Don’t forget the photograph competition on the Greyhound Club Facebook page, this will close next weekend. Members can enter as many photographs as they like, entitled ‘Greyhounds at play’. After Crufts, ten pictures will be shortlisted for our Best in Show judge, Christopher Shields from Canada to judge at the Open Show on 16th March.
