I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and wish you all a happy and healthy and successful New Year – into another decade, 2020, just where those years go?! Only seems yesterday the new millennium dawned!!
I expect that all Greyhound Club members have received their newsletters and had the chance to have a read through over the festive period. Another splendid issue put together by editor Liz Millward, and thanks to all who sent in adverts and articles. Please remember it is everyone’s magazine, so articles and adverts always welcome, it is always good to have different articles for everyone to enjoy, just needs to be remotely greyhound related! The printers were wonderful as usual and did print on time, but sadly the delivery company let us down three times, which resulted in us not being able to have at LKA, which of course incurs large postage costs sadly. I was therefore wondering would anyone like to have the magazine via email in a PDF format?
It’s been lovely seeing everyones Christmas pictures on Facebook over the past week, so I hope you will all join in the Club Facebook page in the New Year for the latest photo competition, with the top three going in the next magazine.
I missed the results for LKA, but Helen Rishworth had a nice entry to go over in her usual kind and professional manner, with Bob Newsham handling Elaine Newham’s Ch Europa Decuma via Windspiel to win BOB, sealing her place as top Greyhound for the year under the Our Dogs point system, well done to them and of course the breeder, Pavlina Lorencova.
There is a heart testing session being done in Kent on 20th January for anyone interested (this includes auscultation, echocardiogram and ECG). So far 11 greyhounds are booked in, so if anyone else is interested let me know, it is far cheaper to do block bookings than individually!
Luton CS held it annual show, this year at the new venue of the KC building. Ray Morland (Club B list judge) judged the breed and chose Jody Cutter and Hadley Lubins, Zoraden My Girl at Chosovi as BOB from a nice entry.
I see Joy Batley has lost her ‘Kiera’, Mascotts Mercedes (Int./ Ir. Ch. Sobers Gargoyle x Justa Dot of Solstrand) , bred by Maggie Holder. A lovely classic hound, who had some nice wins, but she was never really happy in the ring and so lived a full and happy life at home with Joy. I don’t think Joy will mind me saying but ‘Princess Keira’ was her very special dog and was totally in charge at home. Thinking of you Joy, and of course Lisa and Dave.
Lastly don’t forget entries for Manchester shut on 2nd January (on-line). This will be the second year we have had CCs back at Manchester and our judge here is Jeff Horswell. For those wanting to enter Crufts, don’t forget entries shut (postmark ) on Monday 6th January and on line on 20th January. Greyhound judge is all-rounder Carla Molinari from Portugal. Best in Show this year will be judged by well-known saluki exhibitor and hound specialist judge Anne Macdonald. I understand that there will be a parade of the Harrier hounds on hound day, which will be lovely to watch – I do miss watching the hound packs at Hound Association show. Greyhounds 31st December 2019
