Isn’t it hard to believe that it is October already! Where did that year go to? The show season is starting to wind down, but I’m there are a few big shows coming up over the next three months before the end of the year. In Ireland we had no IKC shows; however we did of course have Belfast Dog Show under KC rules over the weekend. The judge was Mr S Young from Malta, who had an entry of seven, with one absentee. Mr Young awarded Best Dog and Best of Breed to Ms A Rutzel’s Am Ch Kolmar’s Painted Masterpiece. Reserve Best Dog was awarded to Mr P Summersgill’s Prince Timmy from Bohemica Land, who was also awarded Best Puppy in Breed. Best Bitch was awarded to Ms A Murray’s Rathcloon Steadfast Miss Lucy Steele and Reserve Best Bitch to Mr M & Mrs D Kane’s Christa’s Jumpy Clown Only for You.
This weekend in Ireland, we have the IKC International Shows. The IKC have released numbers and ring plans for the International Shows on the 6th and 7th of October. There are 6 Havanese entered for both days. Day one we have Mrs J Foley (Ire) and Havanese will be judged in ring 4, not before 11 o’clock. Day two Havanese in ring 4 again, and we will be on after 68 dogs are judged. Our judge for day two is Ms M Gonzalbo from Spain. It’s great to have this information so soon, as it allows exhibitors plan their time before the show.
In the UK, South Wales Kennel Association takes place over the weekend. There are 20 havanese giving an entry of 22. Judging commences at 10 am and Havanese are in ring 22 after 20 Lowchen and the judge is Mrs G Jane Lilley.
The following weekend sees the Havanese Club of GB hold their annual championship show. The show will be held on Sunday 14th October and our judge for the main show is Mr Stuart Mallard. The judge for the special awards classes is Mrs Greta Franklyn. The show will be held at The Arkwright Centre in Chesterfield and judging will commence at 11am. The show will open at 10 am.
