I hope you all had a very nice Easter. It seems like we are living in Narnia, with this never ending winter we are having! My gang are suffering with this bad weather, and have had to make do with very short walks in between the showers. Let’s hope that spring will come along soon with better weather for us to enjoy!

I also see that there Chippenham Open Show held on Easter Sunday and Alan Carter and his girl Cuba made their debut winning Best Puppy in Breed and Puppy Group 3. Well done Alan and Cuba!
Here in Ireland, the Combined Canine Club held their annual Easter Classic Weekend, with an International Show held on Saturday and National Show on Sunday. On Day one, the judge was Mr Hoke from America and he awarded Green Star Dog, CACIB and Best of Breed to Ms A Rutzel’s Kolmar’s Painted Masterpiece. Reserve Green Star was awarded to Michael and Delores Kane’s Karvil’s Havanese Runaway Baby. Best Puppy was awarded to Mr Peter Summersgill’s Prince Timmy From Bohemicaland. Well done to everyone. Sadly at this show, Delores Kane had a terrible fall on the way into the venue, and it later transpired that she had broken her shoulder. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very speedy recovery, Delores, and I’m sure I speak for all havanese exhibitors in Ireland when I say that if there is any way we can help you and Michael over the next six weeks – just let us know.
On Day 2, our judge was Mr Tim Thomas from Australia. From the males exhibited on the day, he selected Mrs O & Mr D Carty-Parge & Parge’s Flordecuba Jacinto Jr Ch as his Green Star Dog Winner and Best of Breed. Reserve Green Star and Reserve Best of Breed was awarded to Dr A & Mrs O Akkad & Carty’s Bailemos Poker Face. Flordecuba Jacinto Jr Ch job represented the breed in the Group later that day, and was placed 3rd in what was a very large and very competitive Group under judge Mr R Delmar. Flordecuba Jacinto Jr Ch also gained his Irish Title on the day! Well done to all!
This coming weekend sees a break from shows in Ireland, however the Havanese Club of GB’s Open show will be held on Sunday. The breed classes will be judged by Diane McCallum (Dianaia) and I look forward to judging the Special Awards Classes. It will be held in Nether Whitacre Village Hall, Whitacre Heath, Coleshill, Warwickshire B46 2EH. The venue opens at 9.30 and judging will start at 10.30. Even if you haven’t entered, do pop along as there will be many experienced Havanese Breeders and Exhibitors present, who have a wealth of knowledge and advice they can offer. Plus there will be lots and lots of beautiful havanese present. Although, the Club does ask that you do not take any dogs that are not entered, due to space restrictions.
I will of course have a full report on the show next week.
If you have any news, results or information that you would like included in the breed notes, please feel free to drop me a line. You can contact me either by email (email@example.com) or on Facebook through Facebook Messenger.
