Not an awful lot to report on this week. There have been no shows in Ireland for Havanese over the weekend, and my newsfeed didn’t provide me with any news in the UK either.
Although the big news is, of course, the Crufts numbers being released. So we have an entry of 39 Dogs and 47 bitches – 86 Havanese in total with 94 entries! That’s quite a nice entry for our breed. Our judge this year is Ms Rae Parry. We are in our usual ring 23, but it’s our turn to be on second, so will have to wait until the Pekingese are finished before we can get our turn on the famous green carpet. Personally, I don’t mind waiting – it gives me time to settle the dogs (and myself).
Next week sees Westminster take place in New York. There is an entry of 21 Havanese and judging will commence in ring 3 at 3pm, New York Time – which is about 8 pm our time. Usually you can watch the stream, but having searched Westminster Website, I’m not too sure for this year. I would suggest keeping an eye on the website to see if there are any developments https://www.westminsterkennelclub.org
There seems to be a bit of a break in shows in Ireland for February. The next Open Show will be the All Ireland Toy Society’s Group Show on 23rd February. The judge is Ms G Corneilli and entries are still open on Dogshowentry.ie
Last weekend, I brought three of my gang for their annual eye testes with Dr Grimes. I am pleased to report that they have all passed and are clear for 2019. It’s always a relief! I also volunteered as a scribe for the All Ireland Tibetan Breeds Club. My task was to write critiques on behalf of Ms S Dykes from Scotland. It was an interesting experience as I got to observe breeds, I generally wouldn’t get a chance to watch – such as the American Akita. What an impressive animal they are! They look very smart and I’m sure it wouldn’t take half the time to bath and blow dry one, as it would to bath and blow dry a havanese. Although I do know that they drop their coats, so thankfully that’s something we don’t have to worry about.
Hopefully next week I will have a bit more news. In any event, I will try to report on Westminster. I hope everyone has a lovely week.
