It has been a busy couple of weeks in Ireland and the UK, with back to back shows in Ireland, a CC Show in the UK and another All Breed Championship Show in Ireland.
The May Bank Holiday Weekend saw the annual ‘Mini Circuit’ take place in Tipperary. On Saturday, in the glorious sunshine, Fermoy Canine Club hosted their annual International Show in Clonmel. Our judge was Group 9 Specialist Mr G Robak from Poland. From his entry, Mr Robak selected Carty & Carty Parge’s young male, Flordecuba Jacinto Jr Ch as Green Star Dog, CACIB Dog and Best of Breed. Reserve CACIB and Dog Green Star were awarded to Rutzel’s Am Ch Kolmar’s Painted Masterpiece. Green Star Bitch, CACIB Bitch and Reserve Best of Breed were awarded to Doherty’s Barbuda Havihara. Best Puppy in Breed went to Summersgill’s Prince Timmy from Bohemica Land. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day, with an enjoyable atmosphere around the ringside, as we all enjoyed the beautiful weather.
Next day saw South Tipperary All Breed Championship Show take place in Holycross, Co Tipperary and another beautiful sunny day. I myself wasn’t showing, instead offering my services to steward for the day. The Havanese judge was Mr Zeniou from Cyprus, and from his entry of 3 Mr Zeniou selected Rutzel’s Am Ch Kolmar’s Painted Masterpiece as Green Star Dog and Best of Breed. Reserve Green Star was awarded to Summersgill’s puppy dog, Prince Timmy from Bohemica Land and Green Star Bitch and Reserve Best of Breed to Doherty’s young girl, Barbuda Havihara.
On Thursday in the UK, Birmingham National Show took place. I had the pleasure of travelling over with my mum to the show, and I must say it is always a pleasure showing in the UK. The majority of the Havanese Exhibitors are warm and welcoming and it is lovely to catch up with such lovely people. Our judge for the day was Mr Ogden and from his entry of 57, he chose Ashwood’s Ch Silviesol Priscilla as his Bitch CC and BOB winner. Dog CC and BOS was awarded to Jefford’s Lekkerbisken’s Entertainer for Wizzizz (Imp Nor). Reserve Dog CC was awarded to Moore’s Dianaia’s Perfect Day and Reserve Bitch CC was awarded to Akkad and Carty’s Ir Ch Reine O’castamere by Labayamesa Ir Jr Ch. Best Puppy was awarded to McCallum-Sealy’s Pandaprint Believe in Magic and Best Veteran was awarded to Hilton’s Cubanitas All Spice at Sheneva. Well done to all that were in the cards.
Rounding up a busy couple of week’s showing, Hibernian Canine Club held their annual Championship Show on Saturday. I had the great pleasure of awarding Green Stars Irish, Gordon and Red and White Setters, and although my mother owns dogs that are not in my name, we decided in the interest of fairness and integrity not to show those dogs. The judge was Mrs P Leonard, and from her entry she awarded Rutzel’s Am Ch Kolmar’s Painted Masterpiece as Green Star Dog and Best of Breed. Reserve Green Star was awarded to Summersgill’s puppy dog, Prince Timmy from Bohemica Land and Green Star Bitch and Reserve Best of Breed to Doherty’s young girl, Barbuda Havihara.
In Ireland, there are no shows next weekend, so let’s hope the weather is nice. The good weather has definitely been welcomed in my house lately, as normal walks have resumed. My gang love their daily walks – we are very fortunate to have a park and playground right on our doorstep.
In the UK, Saturday is Toy Day at SKC. I see there is an entry of only 37, which is a shame, as it’s always such a lovely show. Havanese are first in ring 3 and judging starts at 9 am. Good luck to all attending.
