Well I hope you all had a lovely St Patrick’s Day, the day where anyone in the world can celebrate all things ‘Irish’. Of course, it being our national holiday, we spent the weekend the best way we can – at dog shows! There was a bit of anxiety prior to the shows this weekend, as the weather forecast was not very good at all and many breeds were scheduled to be show outside. After much debate on social media, the IKC decided to bring the sighthounds indoors. I must say that despite being a bit sceptical, the IKC did a fantastic job at both shows this weekend. Both shows ran very smoothly and thankfully there was enough room for everyone. The idea to allow crates up on the balcony was a really good one and there was also a coffee shop up on the balcony – a brilliant idea!
Our judges for both shows were from overseas. On the first day we had Mr Teixeira from Portugal and on the second day, Mr Frisk from Sweden.

CH GEORGIE GIRL BY LABAYAMESA JUN CH.CW 15 AN CH 15 did a fantastic job representing the breed both days in the Group, being placed 4th at the Celtic Winners Show under Mr Teixeira! Well done to all the winners both days.
In the UK, breed specialist Alan Carter, judged Havanese at Spire Toy Dog Show on Sunday. He selected Susanna Thorne’s Dyffrynsands Tilly Tinker as his Best of Breed winner.
I see the numbers for UK Toy Dog have been released. Judge Ernie Patterson drew an entry of 55 Havanese. Mr Patterson has experience in judging our breed, having judged them on a few occasions, most recently in Gibraltar in October 2018. I am not entered myself; however I wish all those attending the very best of luck and will be watching the results with great interest.
