Well summer seems to have temporarily taken a leave of absence sadly, what awful weather we are having. Unfortunately the humidity and high pollen count seems to to be wrecking havoc with my asthma – two trips to the doctors, plenty of antibiotics and steroids will hopefully have me on the mend soon.
In the UK, Border Union took place at Kelso last weekend. Unfortunately there were no classes for havanese but I see that Mrs W E Finglas flew the flag for our breed with her boy Disneylands Designed for the UK with Richeath (D), who won both the Junior and Novice Dog Classes. Well done!
In Ireland, Swords Championship Show took place on Saturday. Having been off sick from work on Thursday and Friday, I still was not feeling well enough to do the Friday night bath routine, so decided to give it a miss. Thankfully for those that did attend, the weather seemed to be relatively pleasant, albeit a bit windy I believe. The judge on the day was Mrs. S. Matakovic and from her entry of three, she awarded Green Star Dog and Best of Breed to A Rutzel’s Am Ch Kolmars Painted Masterpiece. Reserve Green Star was awarded to Peter Summersgill’s young puppy Prince Timmy From Bohemica Land. Green Star Bitch and Reserve Best of Breed was awarded to Bernadette Doherty’s Barbuda Havihara. Well done to all, I believe Bernedette’s girl only needs one more Green Star for her Irish Title – let’s hope it’s not too far away!
At Chepstow Canine Society Jackie Day’s Cubadias Caribbean Damsel flew the flag for the breed by winning AVNSC Toy and then went on to be placed 2nd in the Toy Group. Big congratulations Jackie and Iz.
Great news for those who haven’t managed to catch the record breaking Welsh noir thriller Keeping Faith staring our very own Gladys. BBC is going to air the show this summer. They have also confirmed that series two is on the cards. Not only is this a fantastic thriller, it also stars Gladys the Havanese – it’s win / win!
