I find it hard to believe that I am still commenting on the lovely spell of weather we are having! I think summer 2018 will be remembered fondly for years to come as the summer when we had sun! Please be mindful of your dogs in this heat, as it has been unbearably hot some afternoons. I’ve started taking mine out late in the evening – after 9 pm. Some days we’ve had to skip walks altogether. At shows, I’ve brought some freezer packs for cool bags and placed underneath my gangs blankets. I’ve also put a fan in their strollers with a frozen 1 litre bottle of water behind the fan, to help circulate cool air. I’ve also invested in an Aluminet to put over out tent, and what a worthwhile investment it has been! These things are great at keeping the sun’s heat out of the tent. The one I have blocks 80% of the sun. I purchased mine from Gillian Gibson in Shih Tzu’s from Norther Ireland. Gillian has sourced them at a bargain price of £50, with all proceeds going to Leukaemia Research – a very worthwhile cause indeed!
At Plymouth Show, Jackie Day’s Cubadias Caribbean Damsel was awarded Best Not Separately Classified and was then placed Group 4. Then at the Langston Show she was awarded Best Not Separately Classified and was Placed Group 1! Big congratulations Jackie!
Bakewell Open Show also took place over the weekend – I am still trying to establish results, but when I do, I will report same. I do see that Havanese were well in attendance and there are lots of beautiful photos on the Bakewell Facebook Page.
In Ireland, the Sligo and District 21st Anniversary All Breed Championship Show took place on Saturday. From his entry of 4, he selected Dr A & Mrs O Akkad and Carty’s Bailemos Poker Face Jr Ch CW 18 CJW 18 as his Green Star Dog winner and Best of Breed winner. A Rutzel’s Am Ch Kolmar’s Painted Masterpiece was awarded the Reserve Green Star Dog Winner.
