We had a nice break last weekend in Ireland from showing, which I’m sure was welcomed by tired and weary exhibitors! I personally was delighted with the break, and I haven’t even attended half of the shows in Ireland this year, so I honestly don’t know how the rest of you are keeping up with a show each week. It is nice to welcome Michael and Dolores Kane back to the Havanese rings in Ireland recently. Dolores is recovering from a bad fall at the start of the year, so it’s great to see her out and about.
In the UK, Driffield Show took place on Sunday and the judge was Mr C A Toynton. From his entry, Mr Toynton selected Mr & Mrs J & S Tarff’s Newpark Dream Lover as his Best Dog and Best of Breed winner. Reserve Best Dog went to Mr W & Mrs G Morris’ The Sandman. Best Bitch was awarded to Mrs S Smiths’ Tiggafield Isn’t She Lovely and Reserve Best Bitch to Miss K Smith’s Larwinsca Princess Leia. Best Puppy in Breed was awarded to Mrs S Smith’s El Perrito Master Showman and Best Special Beginner to Mr P Grocock’s Havanamour Moonbeam over Havalag. Well done to you all!
This coming weekend sees no IKC Shows; however there is a show on the Island of Ireland under UK rules – Belfast Dog Show. The judge is Mr S Young and he has drawn an entry of 7 Havanese. Havanese will be 7th in ring 13 after 96 dogs. Unfortunately, I won’t be there myself but I would like to wish all Havanese exhibitors a lovely day and I look forward to seeing the results. Although, I would be lying if I said I am not looking forward to a nice glass of wine Saturday evening; without the stress of bathing dogs and having to get up at silly o’clock the following morning ☺
The IKC have released numbers and ring plans for the International Shows on the 6th and 7th of October. There are 6 havanese entered for both days. Day one we have Mrs J Foley (Ire) and Havanese will be judged in ring 4, not before 11 o’clock. Day two Havanese in ring 4 again, and we will be on after 68 dogs are judged. Our judge for day two is Ms M Gonzalbo from Spain. It’s great to have this information so soon, as it allows exhibitors plan their time before the show.
