Well with the end of the circuit, the show season in Ireland will now begin to wind down for the year. Of course we have 6 more all-breed championship shows to go, however, there will be plenty of weekends off for us all to enjoy.
I did not attend all of the Circuit this year, as I had to work, but was there for the start and end, Clonmel and Tralee. It was nice to see Aoife Murray and Katie Malone back in the ring – we have a few baby puppies about so let’s hope numbers will rise again in the breed!
Clonmel turned out to be a really hot day, despite the initial forecast of rain. Our judge Mr. W Umanha from Costa Rico, a most pleasant gentleman who was very gentle with the dogs and courteous to the exhibitors. From his entry of 6, he selected A Rutzel’s Am Ch Kolmar’s Painted Masterpiece as his Green Star Dog and BOB winner. Reserve Green Star was awarded to Peter Summersgill’s Prince Timmy of Bohemica Land. His Bitch Green Star Winner was awarded to Dr A Akkad’s Pt Gr Ch Multi Ch CIB Amazing Dance Shisuka Multi Jr Ch. Two baby puppies were shown on the day and Best Baby Puppy breed was awarded to Ms V & Mrs J Dowty & Connolly’s Los Perritos Lisbet Taylor of Clynymona.
The next show of the week was Killarney. By all accounts it was another scorcher! Numbers were down for Killarney, with only two adult dogs present and one baby puppy. The judge was Mr A Mendez Vega, also from Costa Rico. He selected selected A Rutzel’s Am Ch Kolmar’s Painted Masterpiece as his Green Star Dog and BOB winner. Reserve Green Star was awarded to Peter Summersgill’s Prince Timmy of Bohemica Land. Best Baby Puppy breed was awarded to Ms V & Mrs J Dowty & Connolly’s Los Perritos Lisbet Taylor of Clynymona.
Numbers saw a slight increase for Limerick, with one extra Baby Puppy being shown. The judge was Mrs K Butrimova from Lithuania. She selected to Peter Summersgill’s Prince Timmy of Bohemica Land as her Green Star Dog and Best of Breed winner. A Rutzel’s Am Ch Kolmar’s Painted Masterpiece was awarded Reserve Green Star Dog. Best Baby Puppy breed was awarded to Ms K Malone’s Rathcloon Jovial Sir John. I believe the weather was not great for this show, with one or two very heavy downpours.
After missing the two middle shows, I was delighted to catch up with everyone at the final show, Tralee. We had a very early start, setting off at 4.15 am. Havanese were third in the ring after Chinese Cresteds and Cavaliers. Our judge was Ms M Bell Carolan from Ireland. From her entry of 5, she selected her Green Star Bitch winner, Dr A Akkad’s Pt Gr Ch Multi Ch CIB Amazing Dance Shisuka Multi Jr Ch as her Best of Breed Winner. Reserve BOB was awarded to the Dog Green Star Winner, A Rutzel’s Am Ch Kolmar’s Painted Masterpiece. Reserve Green Star was awarded to Dr A & Mrs O Akkad & Carty’s Bailemos Poker Face (Neth) CJW 18 CW 18 Jr Ch. . Best Baby Puppy breed was awarded to Ms V & Mrs J Dowty & Connolly’s Los Perritos Lisbet Taylor of Clynymona. It was another very hot day, and I even got a bit sunburnt waiting for the group. What a wait it was too – we didn’t get called until after 5! It was such a long and tiring day. My father and I didn’t arrive home until 10.30 pm. We set off in the dark, and arrived home in the dark. Thankfully I’d Sunday to relax, after such a long and busy day!
Across the water, SKC took place over the weekend, with Mr I Sidgwick judging an entry of 14 Havanese. From his entry, he selected Ms A E & Miss SE Stevenson’s Sheneva’s Homeward Bound at Jeminai ShCM as his Best Dog, Best of Breed and Best Veteran winner. Reserve Best Dog was awarded to Mr P Grocock’s Havanamours Moonbeam over Havalag. Best Bitch was awarded to Monsaraz Rosalyn De Cuba, owned by Mr G & Mrs L Lemin and Reserve Best Bitch to Mr A & Mrs L F Hilton’s Sheneva’s Jean Genie. Best Puppy was awarded to Dyffrynsands Amveber Lassy, owned by Mrs S Crossley. Well done to all the winners!
