Leicester City Canine Society Open Show 27th August 2018
Thank you for a most enjoyable assignment. Some real quality Hounds here today. My AVNSC classes contained some top flight dogs & The Hound Puppy Group without doubt contained some future stars. Jason Rudkin & Alex Paisey judged the remaining hound breeds & from their quality entries both sent through very worthy representatives of their breeds. In 1992 I had the pleasure of winning The Hound Puppy Group at the very last Leicester City Championship show. How time passes but fond memories remain
Afghan Hound Open (5, 1 abs). 1, BOB & G2, Elkington’s Khamis Pajamadrama At Sutina, mature stallion hound that was put down to perfection, beatuful type, such a proud chap & his overall outline especially in profile fills your eye with his typical gait & style (which he was able to demonstrate even better in the group with a larger ring). His head piece is lovely with correct shaped eyes, good long well muscled neck, good shoulders set on good strieght & strong forelegs, good body & ribbing with correct hip bones, good strong quarters with well bent stifles, hocks firm & parallel Certainly a fine example of a mature, fit & beautifully presented Afghan. 2, Milligan-Bott & Bott’s Thendra Love It Like That JW, another beautifully presented handsome male, his coat & condition was faultless, different in type to 1 being a shade smaller & finer throughout. All in proportion & certainly athletic in build & clearly displays this on the move with a sound free moving typical springy gait. Another with a lovely head & expression, very good front & great feet. Body is in proportion & correctly covered. Ran 1 close in many ways with my preference on type just tipping the scales today. 3, Keates’ Affietar Glen Maragan JW
Beagle Puppy (2), 1 & BP, Keepence & Keyte’s Redcap Northern Lights Over Alandobel, lovely head on this ultra feminine 8 month baby, correct eye shape & colour, well arched neck leading into well placed shoulders, super legs & feet, correct body & ribbing, well made quarters with enough angulation. Moves soundly coming & going for one so young, looks good in profile with her happy outgoing attitude & correctly carried stern. In beautiful coat & condition. 2, Holland’s Miranda Lolola At Tagahound, appeals for size & overall balance, good to go over on the table, excels in body & condition, good head & expression although not quite as feminine in outlook as 1, good shoulders with nice tight elbows. Tail is correctly set & carried at all times. Not quite as accurate coming & going as 1 today although in profile certainly gave a good performance with a typical gait & carriage
Junior (4,2). 1, Redcap Northern Lights. 2, Peterson’s Troopersway Prince George, Masculine 13 months male, fit & so well muscled throughout, fair head & eye shape, good strong jaws, firm well arched neck, well covered body, strong legs & feet, tail correctly set & carried at all times. Sound enough coming & going & in profile can certainly cover some ground. Just preferred the size & type of 1
Open (4). 1, BOB & Group 3, Caple’s Tregoniggie Colour Of Magic at Morsefield JW ShCM, for me an easy winner here in the breed today, so feminine & well made throughout, her overall picture fills your eye & gives a true reflection of the breed standard. Ultra feminine head, well arched neck, very good shoulders & front construction on very good legs & feet, correctly well proportioned body & ribbing, short loins, tail correctly set & carried at all times, enough hind angulation on neat & firm parallel hocks. Sound both ways & projects herself so well in profile. Spotless condition & presentation. 2, Holland’s Eardly Walk The Talk At Tragahound, 3 yr male also shown & presented in beautiful condition, good masculine head & expression, ok shoulders, not the feet of 1, lovely body & proportions, good ribbing with correct top & underlines, firm well made quarters, not quite as precise coming & going as 1 but certainly pulls the stops out in profile to give a polished performance excelling in driving action from behind. Quality in type & presentation. 3, Phillips & Keyte’s Lanesend Serenhoe JW ShCM
AVNSC Hound Puppy (4,2) 1, BP & PG4, Moult’s Zamdilsa Trick Or Treat, 10 month BGV (Grand), such a happy personality, delightful head & expression, dark oval shaped eyes & correctly set ears with correct length, good strong neck leading into good shoulders, good legs on large tight feet. Good body & ribbing for age with firm topline, enough angulation behind with good firm hocks. So sound coming & going for one so young & looks beautiful in profile with her easy free gait. Super harsh coat that was beautifully presented. 2, Graham’s Brumberhill Armstrong, 7 month Wire Dachs, lovely size & type, very good head & expression, long well arched neck, good shoulders, feet could be better, good topline & ribbing, excels in quarters, good length of second thigh on short strong hocks, moves out well in profile keeping an attractive outline, very good coat & presentation
Junior (3,1), 1, Marchent & Milton’s Tioga Lautrec with Grandoreille, super smart 14 month BGV Grand, very good masculine head & expression, good strong jaws, good neck which he uses well on the move, good legs & feet with plenty of width throughout, very good ribbing with good firm topline, tail correctly set & carried at all times, ultra sound coming & going, absolutely precise, moves out well in profile with a free easy action. 2, Lee’s Roteleitung Red Corvette At Mutzlee, very sound 16 month Wire Dachshund, very good head & expression, dark almond shaped eyes, good strong jaws, enough neck, good keel that extends well back with plenty of width throughout, feet could be better, good body leading into very good quarters. Tail correctly set & carried, sound enough coming & going & moves out well in profile, in excellent coat & condition
Open (9,2), This really was a joy to judge, all had so many virtues on offer, certainly a real treat of a class. 1, BAVNSC & Group1, Collins & Dunhill-Hall’s Fantasa Dallas Maverick, 19 month Pharaoh Hound, he really captivated me. Fit, well muscled, conditioned & the ultimate showman. Alert & on his toes all the time, loved his well chiselled head & expression, his oval eyes help make his expression even more appealing, Strong jaws & teeth, good length of neck which is mobile at all times, very good shoulders & tight elbows on strong legs & feet, very good body & ribbing, correct topline leading into well set tail of correct length that is correctly carried on the move, strong well muscled quarters with enough angulation on strong firm parallel hocks, his movement in profile is certainly free flowing & covers the ground with ease in great style. A very worthy winner here today & he continued with his polished performance to win the group & made me proud in the best in show ring where he never let anyone down. Will continue to follow this young man who surely deserves to carry his title. Congratulations. 2, Martin’s Canerike Vivaldi For Stalwart JW ShCM, 2 yr old Saluki that is so lovely to go over where your hands just flow with everything fitting together so neatly & correctly. Stunning head & expression, very good neck & carriage, super shoulders on very good legs & feet, correct body & proportions, tail correctly set & carried, enough angulation behind on firm solid hocks. Sound enough coming & going & gives a picture of elegance on the move covering the ground with ease & style. Ran 1 so very close, just the energy & vitality on the day giving The Pharaoh the edge. A beautiful hound indeed. 3, Hutchings’ Trendrow I Am the one From Collidach JW (Wire Dachs)
Hound Group; Thankfully a larger ring was used & all without exception used this to their advantage. There was no denying The Pharoah Group 1, Afghan Group 2, Beagle Group 3 & Group 4 The Elkhound Maun’s Ch Bowerhinton Brouhaha, smart masculine dog that is fit & so well muscled throughout. Very good head & dark eye, good neck leading into very good shoulders on the best of legs & feet, great coat & colour, soundest of movers who put in a very good performance completing a very good final line up.
Hound Puppy Group; Without doubt one of the nicest puppy groups I have had the pleasure of judging. There was quality in each & every baby here, all without doubt will have very good futures for there lucky owners. Group 1 The Whippet, Conway & Oakden’s Spawood Ice And a Slice, ultra feminine 10 month bitch, she really is something special, beautiful head & expression, correct rose shaped ears, well arched neck leading into very good shoulders with tight elbows, very good legs & super feet. Beautiful body with good ribbing & correct top & underlines, short thick loins, well angulated behind, hocks are firm, neat & parallel Ultra sound coming & going, moves out beautifully in profile keeping such a lovely outline at all time. Pure quality that draws your eye. Condition & presentation faultless. I hope she will go far. 2, Mortimer’s Elkhound Laaskso Canute, such a delightful & promising 8 month young man, very good head & expression with dark oval shaped eyes, good strong jaws & teeth, enough neck leading into very good shoulders for his age & the tightest of elbows, good strong legs on the best of feet, well compact body of correct proportions with correct top & underlines with plenty of width throughout, enough angulation behind on very strong hocks, so sound up & back & covered the ground in great style for one so young in profile, his coat & colour being correct for his age, another youngster with a bright future I’m sure. 3, Nash’s Mutoko’s Blaze Of Glory, 10 month Ridgeback, such a beautiful bitch, real quality throughout, she impressed me for her the overall picture of balance & power, correctly made throughout & such a lovely size too.
