OPEN SHOW 13th October 2018.
This is a return visit to one of my favourite venues, weather apart, rain, rain, this was a very pleasant weekend. My sincere thanks to all at Liskeard for such a warm welcome, and of course the opportunity to judge the Terriers and gundog, plus Best in Show. All of which was an absolute delight. Coupled to this event also a pleasure was the company of Ken Jessop as a steward, couldn’t be any better, a friend of many, many years. Best in Show the Whippet L Tope “Ch FALCONCRAG CLASS ACT FOR DENERSTONE”JW Shcm D a three year old quality male, on form and moving like a dream, reserve a superb Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. D from a junior class who simply oosed quality. Players “GRANASIL PICCOLO AT AVNICKILY. D at just over a year old a ruby who really did fill the eye, stunning especially on the table. My Best Puppy in Show a English Springer B/W Merrick “TIVERSTONE STATESMAN AT STORMERICK “ D at 11 months and scoring so well not only in presentation but such a classic on the move. Reserve Puppy. Willcocks “DYNAR FIRST LOVE” B Samoyed maybe a bit out of coat but ideal in all other aspects, so well handled. To end the end of show results Best reserve, Best of Breed was a superb Leonberger, “CH DACFOLKE OBIE ODAKOTA” D, at just over two years old on form and a credit to the breed. Beaten I must say for BOB by its kennel mate, a puppy somebodys doing really well I must say.
I found the event ticked all the boxes for quality, ring size, paperwork and lunch couldn’t be better. Kevin you’re a genius . You must be really proud of your team.

Just over 7 years old and scored so well for type, and presentation such a confident exhibit, used his ears well, best of profiles, top line did not faulter on the move, would have liked more pace, but you can’t win um all. Won res best Veteran in show which didn’t surprise me. Well done.

1 Edworthym “ SH CM MAYCOURT CHASE THE ACE” D Curley Coat Retriever. A Liver exhibit of real quality. Handled to perfection and presented with ease. Profile wise I could not fault him. Good for type with plenty of bone and muscle, well balanced head, excellent reach of neck, high wither, top line of good length, level and firm. Good tail set. All angles, correct carrying no exaggeration of any kind. Good feet moderate turn of stifle. Came into his own on the move, such an easy flowing action, coupled with reach and drive. Well done. Best Veteran in Show.
2 Attwoods “IR SH CH MOORASH LADY YGRAINE OF KYLOWEN “ Shcm W.S.S. B 8 year old and looking surprisingly so young. She really did give of her best, both on the move and in present. Lovely feminine expression, well placed ears, both top and underline excellent, very tidy feet. Held her top line like a youngster on the move. Ran a really close second to my winner.

Nice one for type. Very confident expression, and stood all squire on the table with little help. Good well put together fore hand, held a good top line at all times, good feet. Moderate turn of stifle, easy mover, did not fade at all, very sound R BOB. BP.

At just over six months of age, and a delight to go over, with I’m sure have a bright future. Keen but also soft expression, good eye shape and colour, well defind wither. Good level top line, all angles good especially shoulders. Liked her on the move, typical border gait, including correct pace.

Loved him in particular, smart well developed head piece for one so young, classic bite, tight lips, neat well placed ears. Neck of good length into just about the best of top lines. Shoulder correct angle, upper arm of equal length, elbows well tucked in. Slight tuck at loin, well angled rear assembly. Even paced movement, running true in all directions. Handling couldn’t be faulted. BOB

Two year old, a bit of a fidget for this young man to deal with, pleased to say he did very well B/T quality coat, super profile and so sound on the move, an enjoyable team to assess. Scored well on the move. Well done.

One I’ve done so well of in the past, and I see no reason to change my mind. So very good for type, and groomed to perfection so very masculine and very firm, ok for bone and came into his own on the table, just that touch of arrogance from him gives him that much needed edge. Super profile, so well collected on the move, ultra sound. Did ok in the final challenge at the end of the day, but he did look a little tired. Even so in my eye at all times. BOB

I felt the bitch just had that tiny edge. He is so masculine in appearance, so typical of the breed,

Party colour, at 14 months one to watch. She really did give it a good shot. So very feminine with a

2 year old fawn and white, not a big exhibit, but such an eye catching male who gave the impression he’s in it to win. So well presented, best of head’s, good pigment, ear set so well, just a slight arch to his neck which will always give him that elegant appearance. High wither, short strong back, well placed tail. Shoulders to upper arm correct. Elbows well tucked in , good spring of rib. Nice tuck at loin. His hind quarters and very well developed for one so young, hocks short and firm. On the move, he came into his own handled of course at the correct pace. Kept my eye on him in a very strong group. Well done.

Black two year old, quite good in present but was rather erratic on the move I’m sure he will improve in time, keen expression. Super top line and well laid back shoulders. Best of Luck.

Had the confidence right from the start of the class, profile wise he just couldn’t be any better. Quite masculine for one so young. Loved his well balanced head, good eye shape and well placed ears. Neck of good length, wither high and well defined. Best of top lines which he held at all times. All angles were very well balance. Straight fore legs, tidy feet. Under line with a slight tuck at loin. Best of rear ends which included moderate angle, very firm hocks. Scored so well on the move, very athletic and sound. BOBXBP. Outstanding looked good at the end of the day.

A very smart veteran a kennel mate to my BOB and I can see why. Such a splendid profile, and scoring so well in all area’s. Handled I must say with care and perfection. Makes my job so easy when there this good. So very sound and produced the pace one expects from this breed. RBOB. Well done.

4 year old bitch fully mature and an absolute delight to go over. I don’t see many and have gone over very few, but quality stands out. And this was real quality a liver of excellent size and type, and so very confident. On his toes from start to finish. Correct head planes, excellent eye shape and colour, neat well placed ears, so muscular especially top line from a very high and well defined wither. Correct tail set which was carried well, height, width and length couldn’t be bettered. All angles were so correct and used to produce an easy flowing side gait, such a powerful stride. Handling was visually made easy by absolute control and the best slack lead of the day, a very well deserved BOB. G1. And was in my eye during the end of day final. Such a close call, superb.
2 Coutier “ MAYCOURT CRIMSON MOON “ B
2 year old black girl, who is from the same stable as my class winner and to tell the truth of equal quality. She is so very feminine with the same breed quality and just as well presented. So very feminine and the softest of expression. Very good dentition tight lips, excellent reach of neck, top line to match the class winner. All angles also very good. Ok for bone but not to heavy. She moved a dream and was so collected at all times. I also had my eye on her for best at the end of day. RBOB.

16 months old, delightful youngster So much to like about him. Quite confident has the proverbial flatcoat stop, well placed ears, softest of expression. Really good shoulders which made all angles so well balanced. Needs to go up a gear on the move. She’s sound but does go off track at times. Room for improvement here. One to watch.

6 half years old, mature and my notes says it all “Loved Her” Such a well made girl. Did fade a little at times but carried such a good profile. Good bone, well chiselled head piece, expression confident, came into movement and produced a really good side gait, so sound, but as I’ve said eased of a little at the end. Even so a well deserved BOB. Well done.

At four years of age another at the top of her game. Very little to choose between first and second. Scored well for type, and indeed produced really good presentation. She really did have her eye on the ball. Very sound in all directions. RBOB. Close call in the final. Well done.

At 15 month old starting to produce the goods. Such a delight to go over placid yet very attentive.
Liked her over all balanced. Excellent length of leg. Best well balanced head, eye’s ,ears, and pigment all good. Liked her reach of neck and well defined wither. Top line firm, held level at all times. Good fore hand, nice straight fore legs. Very good chest proportions. Flexible loin on the move. One of the best hind quarters on the day of any breed. So very well balanced on the move.
Maybe another gear would do but I would have to see her on grass to confirm that. Well Done.

At 8 month starting off on his journey, has a lot to offer, ok for type, bone and temperament a little soft as you would expect at this age. Profile very good, and produced a soundness that is absolutely essential at this age. A waiting game but nice to have all the ammunition in the bag. Well done. BP

Did well on the move, proof that all angles are correct. Liked her side gait in particular. Well done.

4 year old Cornish girl who did improve on all fronts. Look as if a days work would be no problem. So very feminine and so steady in present. A typical mature exhibit. So very confident like her expression, clear eye shape and colour. Best of top lines and shoulders correctly placed. Good bone and tidy feet. Liked her rear assembly good angle which came into play on the move, gave her the drive needed to be ultra sound. Well done.

Dark coated 4 year old, so well put together, even so I do feel he’s not quite finished and should be the apple of your eye in the spring. Smart head piece and so well balanced in profile, especially both fore and aft construction. Roomy chest and so very sound as you would expect, with angles like he has. Nice.

Her top line was firm most of the time. Good tail set. Height to length correct, good feet. Should to upper arm had the correct angle, underline had the required tuck at loin. She really did move well sound that is, but I feel another gear would be acceptable. Well done.

Just over a year old and my notes suggest she has more to come, on a par construction wise with the winner, but she just has to firm up as you would expect. A very workman like girl, good bone correct size and has the front and rear assembly which will stand her in good stead. Her movement is faultless. Well done. Strongest of top line which included high wither and a slight arch to his neck. Very roomy chest proportions, elbows well tucked in, shoulders couldn’t be better. 3rd in my Post Grad class. Came up a tad in this class, I’m suggesting that the post grad class was a tester for her as she was much more settled. Profile good ok for bone and moved with a better sence of purpose. Well done.

B/W 18 month old, loved his overall balance, classic head and confident expression, slight arch to his neck. High wither and this went into a really firm level slightly stopping top line. Deep chest, nice tuck at loin, I found his rear quarters were the reason for his smooth far reaching side gait, also good coming and going. Well done. BOB. G4.

10 month old and extremely good to have a JW at this age, you are to be congratulated. She’s very immature but has such a promising profile. Fab head, eyes so well placed, and giving a very confident expression. Wither to croup strong for one so young. Liked her front construction shoulders in particular are very good. Moderate feathering at the moment, more to come I hope. Rear assembly was used so well on the move. The angle in particular produced the drive and positive balance on side gait well done. RBOB BP

Just over six months and it shows as you would expect. This age thing apart I feel theres lots on offer here. Good for type to start with all body parts were even, and she has enough bone to please, for get a best coat at the moment, movement is much more important. Steady gaiting is essential. I’m sure your very much a where of this. Best of luck with her, a well deserved RBOB and BP should give her a really good start. Watch with interest.

2 years still some way to go , but the one striking thing about her is her beautiful head piece, this alone pushed her score well up the line. Let her mature with grace, time is not important. All angles ok on the move she needs to settle. Best of luck.

16 month old, opposite to the winner, a very big top size young man. So very well behaved and handled very expertly. Loved his attitude, so very masculine and alert. Mature 5 year old, loved his confidence, and presentation I just couldn’t fault. Matching eye colour to coat, firm level top line. Good feet, and confirmation which is shoulders and hind quarters in particular were word perfect, handled well, and with ease I must say, very well done.
