Sadly, these notes have been very hard to write because as I’m sure most Pharaoh people know, we lost a truly good and warm-hearted man on the thirteenth of February. The shock and upset at Graham Reeve’s sudden passing has affected a lot of people in the breed, and our collective, deepest sympathy must go to his family and friends. Graham will be greatly missed around the shows with his cheery smile and troupe of hounds running alongside his mobility scooter. Always fair in his comments and opinions, he never took sides in disagreements and allowed things to just flow and find a level. He served for many years on the PHC committee and will not be easily replaced, especially for his talents as show photographer. He was a good amateur photographer and apart from dogs, aircraft, Thames barges and the river landscapes near his home in Greenhithe were favourites subjects.
My apologies if my notes are a bit sketchy but here is a short resume of Graham’s life in Pharaoh hounds:
He and his late wife Janet started out in showing with a pack of Beagles under the affix ‘Anjeever’ and this was essentially Jan’s hobby until a Pharaoh Hound came along. The puppy bitch, Akhanubis Nettikurti was from a litter bred by Mr & Mrs L. Goodman (09/06/2004), and under their new affix – ‘Annatefkah’ – she would become the foundation for a new Reeves family. Akhanubis Nettikurti With Annatefkah showed well, gaining a JW in Oct.2005 and a ShCM in Aug.’06. Another bitch was bought in from Sweden in 2006 – Xemxija Charlotte Gray For Annatefkah (‘Lottie’). Sadly, Jan passed away in 2008 and up to then, all the Pharaohs had been in her name so Graham then became their owner. A further import (from the USA) followed in the shape of Akhanubis Across The Pond To Annatefkah (‘Florrie’). Graham became a regular exhibitor at Open and Champ shows, making many friends along the way. He found this was the social and hobby outlet he needed and began breeding plans for Pharaohs, gaining KC Assured Breeder status along the way.
So firstly, ‘Kurti’ was mated to Ch.AmCh. K’Azar Ggtu Ty Unas At Talkaccatur, and produced a litter of eight males on 17 Aug.09. The second Annatefkah litter was born to ‘Lottie’ (by A. Ashai – a dog from the first litter) in Sept. 2010. Graham’s last litter was born in 2013 to Ch. A. Bennu (Tessie – from the 2nd litter) by Ch. Xo’s Invincible (imp). This was the most successful litter, producing four champions. Hopefully, future winners will appear from the families that Graham helped in no small way to create, and are going to keep his legacy going. Bless you Graham, and thank you for your contribution to UK Pharaohs. Rest In Peace.
At this time, no funeral arrangements have been announced but be assured that Graham’s remaining three dogs, Tessie, Phuscia & Phreddie, have all been happily re-homed via the PHC’s Rescue & Rehoming help.
