On Saturday 31st March UK Toy was held at Stafford Showgrounds. There was an entry of 165 dogs (186 entries) for Kathy Newsome (Bitches) and Penny McDonald (Dogs).
The Dog CC, and Best of Breed went to The Hill Family’s homebred CH & Lux CH Calequendi Nebuchadnezzar, JW, ShCM (who later went on to win Best in Show under Mrs T M Jackson). The Reserve Dog CC went to Kath Storey’s homebred CH Rhodenash Kotten Klyde JW.
In Bitches the CC went to Carol Kirks’ homebred Hattella Orange Blossom, and the reserve CC went to Gail Saffer’s Bilokha GI Baby at Ragemma JW (bred by Catherine Phelps- Terrett). Best Puppy went to Lea’s dog puppy Paguville Brand New Day, and Best Veteran went to Nikki Cannon, and Heidi Burrough’s Marbelton Ice Cream at Flashnik.
Across the pond in Ireland there was a another double weekend of shows run by the Combined Canine Club. On March 31st there was an International Show, and and on the second day there was a National Show.
At the International Show Pugs were judged by Mr Petru Muntean from Romania. He found his Green Star Dog, CACIB and Reserve Best of Breed in Tish O’Flaherty’s Black Boy, Pleasantnook King of Clubs (Bred by Cynthia Timbury UK). This was his 6th Green Star and Third CACIB. The Reserve Green Star Dog and Reserve Dog CACIB went to Karen Murphy’s Boynhams Brasilia (Bred by Kate Cook UK).
The Bitch Green Star and Best of Breed went to Caryn Coogan’s Homebred Buzleo Light my Fire, who was too young to claim the CACIB, which, along with the Reserve Green Star went to Moira Grant-Cook’s Homebred Champion CH Kerronmor Diamond in the Sky, CJW17, Jun CH. The Reserve CACIB went to Caryn Coogan’s Buzleo Kissy Suzuki.
At the National Show the following day Pugs were judged by Ross Delmar from Ireland, who awarded the Dog Green Star and Reserve Best of Breed to Moira-Grant Cook’s homebred Kerronmor Mr T. The Reserve Green Star was awarded to Clodagh Fallon’s Clodana Expellimus, CJW17, Jun Ch An Ch 17.
Green Star Bitch and Best of Breed went to Buzleo Light my Fire, who was handled by her Breeder, Caryn Coogan on the day, but I believe is owned by Marie- Clare Walsh (Waterford). The Reserve Green Star Bitch was given to Grant- Cooks Kerronmor Wings of an Angel.
