The Show season for Pugs in Ireland kicked off at the Oriental Breeds Championship Show on 3rd February at the Kingswood Sports Complex, in Dublin. The Judge on the day was Peter Van Baaren Grob from the Netherlands. Green Star Dog and Best of Breed went to Boynhams Brasilia, bred by Kate Cook (GB), and owned by Karen Murphy. Later in the day “Brasilia” went on to win Best in Show 4 under French Judge, Christian Jouchicot. Reserve Green Star dog went to Gillian Stewart’s Felice Benjamin Brittan at Glenalua (Bred by Liz Ward, GB), and Audrey and Brenda Fisher had a great day with their two young Russian girls – taking GSB and RBOB with Flash of Joy Innamorata, and RGSB with Flash of Joy Evolution (both bred by Natalia Brylkova).
On the weekend of the 17th and 18th of March there was a double International Show weekend with the St Patrick’s Day International Championship Show on the 17th and the IKC Celtic Winners International Championship Show on the 18th. The second day Celtic Winners titles were on offer for Green Star and Junior Winners, and it was the only IKC Crufts Qualfier that there is in Ireland, apart from Belfast Championship Show (KC).
On the first day the Judge was Mrs T Konrad from Serbia. The CACIB, Green Star Dog, and BOB went to NUCH DKCH CH Tangetoppen’s Yes I do Christmas, a black dog owned by Liv Lunder from Norway, which is apparently over in Ireland for a year on loan to Caryn Coogan from Wexford. The dog was handled by Scarlett Burnside on the day, and automatically gained his Irish Title as he is already a Champion in two other countries. Reserve Green Star Dog, and the RCACIB went to Clodagh Fallon’s Clodana Expellimus, CJW 17, Jun CH, JD, An Ch 17.
In Bitches Green Star Bitch and RBOB went to Caryn Coogan’s homebred Buzleo Light My Fire, who was too young to get the CACIB on the day (dogs have to be over 15 months of age). The CACIB and Reserve Green Star Bitch therefore went to Moira Grant-Cook’s homebred Kerronmor Wings of an Angel, and the RCACIB went to Buzleo Kissy Zuzuki (bred and owned by Caryn Coogan)
Best Puppy in Breed went to Gillian Stewart’s Felice Benjamin Brittan at Glenalua.
On the Second day the Judge was Micheal Leonard from Ireland. He found his Green Star Dog and Best of Breed in Dave and Tracey Holmes’s Junior Dog, Clodana Maverick at Dencas (bred by Clodagh Fallon). “Maverick” also won the titles CW18 & CJW18, and qualified for Crufts, but was too young for the CACIB. The Reserve Green Star and CACIB went to his father, Fallon’s Clodana Expellimus, CJW17, Jun Ch, JD An Ch 17, and the RCACIB went to NUCH DKCH Tangetoppen’s Yes I do Christmas (Liv Lunder/Caryn Coogan).
In bitches GSB and RBOB went to Coogan’s Buzleo light My Fire, who is also a Junior and also won the CW18, CJW18 titles and qualified for Crufts, but again was too yong for the CACIB. Therefore the Reserve Green Star and CACIB went to Coogan’s Buzleo Kissy Zuzuki, and the RCACIB went to Moira Grant- Cooks homebred Champion Kerronmor Diamond in the Sky, Jun Ch.
That’s it for now folks …
