At Birmingham National Mr Jan-Erik Ek judged the breed for the first time with tickets. His winners were DCC Ch Brakemill Barnum SHCM owned by myself; Res DCC McLeod’s Juger Edelweiss Me Myself And I At Esgia (Imp); BCC Verumamicus Aurora Of Brakemill JW owned by myself; Res BCC Large’s Parrima-arih Universe Of My Fantasy Is Madaza (Imp). Barnum was BOB and Best Veteran with Best Puppy going to Herbert’s Finnsky Yves.
In the 60+ Adult Handling Class under judge Mr Daniel Roberts, Cath Parker and Glorfindel Deacon Brodie SHCM took 4th place in strong competition.
Subject to KC confirmation this was Aurora’s third and qualifying ticket. She is just 16 months old and is out of Ch Brakemill Barnum SHCM x Ch Juger Edelweiss Mary Poppins SHCM. Her first ticket with BOB was at Manchester 2019 under judge Mrs Zena Thorn-Andrews; the second at Crufts 2019 again with BOB under Mr Bill Browne-Cole and of course the third at Birmingham National under Mr Jan-Erik Ek, being beaten for BOB by her dad.
Barnum’s win saw him entering the record book as the new breed record holder with 30 CC’s under 30 different judges. In June 2014 aged 2 both Barnum and his sister Ch Brakemill Briar Rose took their 3rd CC at Border Union under Judge Jackie Vaughan-Jones. That is something I will never forget, making brother and sister up on the same day. Along with 26 reserve tickets, he has taken several Group placings to include a Group 1. He won the Open Show Dog of the Year Award under Judge Richard Allen at National Terrier in 2017 and 2019 saw him winning the Final of the Vulnerable Breeds Competition at Crufts under Judge Paul Eardley.
Anglesey Premier Show saw Mark Ord judging the breed where he awarded BOB to Glorfindel Effort at Sunabil owned by Meg Roberts. On the same week-end we also had classes at Deane & District Canine Society where Cath Parker’s Tweedsmuir Feebee Mine SHCM took BOB and Group 3 under judge Mr John Finney (Sanguliano) who also awarded Best Terrier Veteran to Glorfindel Deacon Brodie SHCM..
