That’s Crufts over with for another year. It’s a bit like Christmas with all the preparation and travel for some and then it’s over in a flash. It’s lovely to catch up with people you haven’t seen since last year, but once again I didn’t have time to do any shopping.
Discover Dogs was well manned over the 4 days. Lisa & Neil Sanderson were there with Breagha, Merlin and Laddich; Jenny Kendrick with Pasha. Cathie and George McCleod with Murray, Seoras, Emily, Callum and Innes and Margaret Samuel with Walter.
The Final of the British and Irish Vulnerable Breeds Competition was held on Thursday. I qualified at National Terrier 2018 with Ch Brakemill Barnum ShCM. It was a long day with the qualifying dogs being pre judge in the afternoon and then parading in the main arena for the final judging at 7.00pm. Paul Eardley then chose Ch Brakemill Barnum ShCM as his winner and I received a wonderful glass trophy. Well done to Mr & Mrs Stevens with their Curly Coated Retriever who won reserve. Yet again this was not shown on the television but is show on You Tube.
Mr Bill Brown-Cole drew an entry of 55 dogs making 65 entries. There were 15 entries in Open Dog and 11 in Open Bitch; something I have not seen for many years. His winners were DCC Blahova’s Flanagan Limited Edition (exhibitor from Czech Republic); Res DCC Curtis’ Ch Brakemill Barnum ShCM; BCC Curtis’ Verumamicus Aurora of Brakemill; Res BCC Kanasova’s ICH/SK/CZ/HU/HR/RO/RUS/NL/AT Ch Gold Monarh Tramontana WW18, EUJW14 (handled by Robert Kanas from Slovakia).
Best of Breed was my own Verumamicus Aurora of Brakemill, Best Puppy was McLean & Weir’s Knowlespring Jackpot at Rhoderns and Best Veteran Stewart’s Multi Ch Finnsky Momentous. Congratulations to all the winners.
So another long day for me as I was now in the Group with Verumamicus Aurora of Brakemill. At only 14 months of age, she went round like an old pro. I was so proud of her.
Reminder; The Skye Terrier Club Open Show is on 20th April. Postal votes close on 23rd March – judge Dr Sarah Downes.
