On Saturday The Skye Terrier Club Breed Specific was held at Over Kellet, unfortunately despite reminders some people forgot to attend. However it was still well attended. Moira Barrass presented the talk ably helped by Anne Ankcorn on the powerpoint. Moira also took a clipped off dog which enabled people to see the confirmation of a Skye.
This was followed by a multiple choice questionnaire and then a light lunch. Thanks to Cath Parker for proving a lovely lunch. In the afternoon the hands on session was held. Allan Stephenson and Moira carried out assessments of the dogs before the hands on session started. It’s fair to say that some people were surprised by the very clean white teeth of our dogs and how well muscled some dogs were.
A special thanks goes to Moira Barrass who presented the breed talk; Anne Ankcorn for her invaluable work with the powerpoint, multiple choice questionnaires and the Breed Illustrated booklets that were given to everyone who attended. Thanks also to the owners who bring their dogs along to enable the hands on assessment to take place: Janet Woodhead, Chris Burscough, Arina Zvezdina, Rachel Heath, Megan Roberts, Marilene Evans and Sue Large, not to forget my own dogs. Having just got back from her holiday Sue was on duty and couldn’t attend, however Jayne Crabtree a very good friend of Sue’s collected Mickey Mouse (a drop ear) and brought him along. It is invaluable for people to see a true drop eared Skye. Also shown were 3 cream dogs from a puppy through to adult to show the stages of how the coat clears as the dog matures.
On Sunday, three Terrier Shows were held all with classes for the breed. At the Terrier Club of Scotland Mr Mark Ord awarded BOB to Moira Barrass’ Gallondean Foreign Spirit SHCM who went on to take BIS. Not to be out done by her daughter, Ch Lavaux Spirit Of The Isle Of Gallondean SHCM was Best Veteran in Show.
At Liverpool Terrier Club Rachel Heath’s Perrylands Hello Again was BOB under Mr Bob Blackley. Cath Parker’s Deacon Brodie SHCM was Best Veteran in Show under Miss Carmel Clarke-O’Neill and Dylan Evans won the Junior Handling.
At Northern Counties Sporting Terrier Association Arina Zvezdina’s Ch Juger Edelweiss Mary Poppins (IMP EST) was BOB and shortlisted in the group.
