SWKA. Terrier Group
My thanks to the Officers & Committee of SWKA for inviting me to judge their Terrier Group. I had some very nice dogs to choose from and was very happy with my final placements. I shortlisted 8, these being the Border, the Cesky, the Dandie Dinmont, Wirehaired Fox Terrier, the Kerry Blue, the Skye, the Softcoated Wheaten and the Staffordshire.
In the number 1 spot I chose the WFT Ch Nethertonion Chandalier, of lovely breed type and ultra feminine. She has a nice head of good length, well placed ears and dark eye. A good length of neck which blended into her level topline. Straight correct front, short back with a deep chest, well muscled hindquarters which she used to move fluently around the ring. In a well prepared crisp coat, in top condition and showed none stop.
Spot 2 was the upstanding masculine Kerry Blue Lacarnaveen The One And Only. He has a pleasing head with the keen and alert expression. He has a good length of neck, straight well made front and clean through his shoulders. Mature in body, good spring of rib and depth. He has powerful hindquarters which he used well once in his stride. Tail set on well and in a true blue jacket. Full of character.
Number 3 spot went to the well known Skye Ch Brakemill Barnum, full of quality this boy has the three L’s, long, low and level. He has a nice head, dark in eye and well placed ears, a good reach of neck which blended into his topline. He has a well made body with depth and the correct ribbing. Strongly made well muscled hindquarters, correct tail set and carriage. He has a good straight coat and plenty of furnishings, carried himself well as he powered around the ring.
Spot 4 went to the Dandie Dinmont Ch Cassencarrie Chiormaster. This pepper boy is full of breed type, head of good proportions with the correct eye colour and a good expression. Good neck of correct length for his size, good width in front with a well developed chest. Good length of body and spring of rib, correct topline which isn’t over done. Well angulated hindquarters which are well muscled, correct in tail set. Shown in a well groomed coat with the correct light topknot. A steady and fluent mover who covered the ground well.
