WELKS CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
Judge Mrs L P Marchant
Thank you to all the exhibitors who made the day so pleasant for me. It is not easy at this time of the year with dogs losing their coats and bitches coming in season. All were shown clean and teeth apart from one exhibit were all correct, so I needn’t mention this when I critique them.
I must apologise to Mrs. Pinkerton. I had given her dog Ch. Ujay Kalinow at Menigma VHC in a very strong class, but his handler obviously didn’t notice and left the ring, my fault I should have been clearer. Neither my stewards nor I noticed when I did my critique. I most certainly did not with hold from this very worthy Champion.
Veteran
Rimells Ch. Borodina Balanchine
Red and white. 7yrs and could still challenge the best. Masculine head but with no coarseness.
Small well placed ears super shoulder angulation upper arm well laid back, deep brisket strong quarters, balanced dog who moved very well.
Puppy Dog
- BP Donskoi Tsarevich. At just six months he was so well balanced This little Irish marked red had everything to like. He just filled my eye, moved very well.
- Chalks Chalksville Egor
Not a big puppy but lovely veined head, well bodied, strong hind quarters, was just pipped by one on movement.
- Birminghams Russkiy Azart Master Ballantin Elletto.
Junior Dog
All were typical Juniors so I will not say too much
- Newshams Powab Rosyjski Klejnot at Zercark Self Red who when he relaxed was really quite nice looking steep behind at present.
2, Lydens Donskoi Tchaikousky White and Brindle. Straight back end and not good coming and going, so many Juniors are like this, I hope he grows on O.K.
- Lee-Browns Zar Elbur Kalinow of Palamedees. This exhibitor would get more out of his youngster if he was a little slower in both stacking and moving.
Yearling
1st Op De Weerdt Cavallierik compliment of Me Bejch Dejch. JW18 White and Brindle had the most beautiful head and expression. Balanced and really moved in profile not so good coming and going.
2nd Chalk & Vorrias Chalksville Eagle Lord. White and Brindle who standing I thought would be my class winner but let himself down on the move.
Limit Dog
1st Dog cc Vereczki’s Go Go Huckelberry Horace Black and White, not the most glamorous as starting to blow his coat. Masculine head with no coarseness, strong under jaw, small tight ears, well angulated shoulder with matching lay back of upper arm, not over done as some are today. Pronounced sternum, deep through the brisket, well ribbed back, correct topline with highest point of arch over the last rib, strong muscular loin of good width. fall away long and not too steep. Strong quarters, long second thigh into low hocks. He didn’t put a foot wrong moving.
2nd Edwards Kingmaker Nibrass King Penda. White and Orange showed a lot of presence standing, but unfortunately very upright pasterns and steep fall away.
Open Dog
1st reserve cc Pinkerton a Cattoni-Sarman Ch. Korsakov Radost Power of Love Menigma Sh Cm
White and gold that I have always admired and I was not disappointed when I went over him, most of the same remarks apply as for the cc winner. Not quite as good in shoulder but presented to perfection, his owner should give lessons. Extremely deep and powered round the ring in profile, good going away but unfortunately pinned coming towards. I felt sorry for his owner because apparently he does not usually do this, we had to judge inside and the ring surface was appalling and upset a few dogs, but you have to Judge dogs on the day. But my decision was met with good manners from this exhibitor as always.
2nd Fakkerts NL.Ch Cashmir of the Wicklow Hunters NLJCH DE3CH Best mover of the day, light and flowing, very balanced but out of coat and needing another year to mature.

Bitches
Special Beginners
1st Parsons Jamarqui Alchemy Annie 9mths white and fawn pretty feminine head, balanced all through moved well, should have a bright future.
2nd Page’s Lynx Christmas Belle (Imp Swe) White and Fawn, needs time to grow, rather narrow all through at present and moving close behind.
Veteran
1st Earleys Ryazon Perkita of Hillohawks Sh CM Irish marked red whose movement belied her age, nothing exaggerated, so correct all through, lovely to go over.
2nd Goddens Ch. Beamer Starquest White and Brindle of a type I really like, gorgeous head and dark eye, wonderful standing but coming and going movement let her down on the day.
Puppy bitch
1st.Parsons Jamarqui Alchemy Annie, won special yearling.
2nd Wards Chalksville Zenya of Boyertaji white and silver it was her first show and she moved head down, also rather overweight which spoilt her movement. I think when she is more confident and has lost the weight she will be greatly improved.
Junior Bitch
Two nice Juniors 1st Coldling and Jones Jansams Tirimisu Irish marked brindle. Lovely head good feet and pasterns, deep brisket. Strong quarters with long second thigh. Movement that would trouble the best, very promising.
2nd Lyden’s Donskoi Talsiya White and Gold, pretty youngster. Needs to drop and tighten up generally, just needs time.
Yearling bitch
1st Page’s Lynx Autumn Mist (imp Swe) Silver brindle. Stood alone but could hold her own in strong company. Loved her. Pleasing head, correct front assembly, strong rear, movement was excellent.
Graduate bitch
1st Rimells Donskoi Vesna at Boradino Red and white, lovely type. Feminine head dark pigment and showing veining. Correct shoulder angulation with a good return of upper arm. Deep brisket, well ribbed back, strong muscular loin, correct feet and pasterns moved well.
2nd
Warks Russkiy Azart Kurinada La Vie Est Belle (imp It) Slightly dished head but a truly excellent front assembly, deep brisket, well ribbed back, flowing topline. Lost to 1 on movement.
3rd Bakers Mischan Gyda.
Limit Bitch
1st Odells Sukeshi Shiggy Bops Black and White balanced standing and moving. Feminine head, pronounced sternum, deep brisket, well ribbed back, flowing topline, decent back end moved well.
2nd Yardleys Thrillseeker Lastochka. Beautiful head but really does not like her mouth touched. Dips at the wither which spoils her topline, when she settled she moved well.
Open Bitch
1st Bitch cc BOB and Hound Group 1.
Harveys Ch/Ir Ch/NL Ch Albaneiler Aquae Sulis Stunning Bitch. Feminine head, strong under jaw, tightly held ears. Lovely shoulder and upper arm, correct topline with highest point of arch over the last rib, flowing into strong balanced quarters long second thigh, low hocks, correct feet and pasterns. Her movement was excellent coming going and in profile. She loves life and when people clap, shows off, but her handler does an excellent job and I was pleased to see her move round the group ring as if it was the beginning of the day not the end. I would love to own her.
2nd res cc Fakkarts Nl Ch Calia of the Wicklow Hunters NLJH Black bitch who gleamed, Lovely bitch unlucky to meet 1. Most of the same remarks apply. Moved superbly , another year and she will trouble the best. She scored on hind quarters over 3.
3rd. Carters Rothesby Petale de Rose.
