During the lunch break Tori judged an excellent entry of 30 split between the 3 classes. Meanwhile the Welsh KC Open Show held at Neath, near Swansea had 2 classes of WSS scheduled with Duncan Craig judging.
His BOB was Jan Rees’ Hudolus Rhys Henllys at Typica with BPIB being Anne Worth’s Sarabande Dance To The Rhythm. Nigel is in America so Ann also entered the brother, Sarabande Lord of the Dance, this time in the AV Gundog Puppy class which he won and was later awarded Puppy Gp2.
Further North, at North & South Shields the Chandler duo of Angela and Elizabeth had a good day, both with the same dog – Angela’s Chanangel Sticky Wicket JW ShCM (Spin).
Elizabeth was also busy with Chanangel Dujardin (Ginny) who she steered to win the WSS Graduate class under Ed Casey with Angela winning Open handling Spin.
Elizabeth then took over Spin’s reins to go BOB and later Gp2 under Gill Tully.
They swapped back and Spin won the AV Open Stakes under Mr R Mann.
Elizabeth is becoming a very competent Junior Handler as well as an all round sports person, recently winning a school’s Girls 25m freestyle and being an accomplished horsewoman.
Following an announcement at the SEWSSC show regarding parents being responsible for any family youngsters that they have at a show several of us did note that it was a shame that there weren’t any evident. We do need young handlers to come up ‘through the ranks’ if dog showing is to keep going, so come on please encourage youngsters to get involved.
Club news – February has 2 club shows scheduled: WSSCSW on 11th with Dawn Ritchie judging the main classes and Ann LeMaitre the Specials and WSSC on the 24th with Jennifer Millard judging the main classes and Janet Dyer the Specials.
Please note that the WSSC show will be at the new venue of Corley Village Hall (CV7 8AY).
